Hi there, it’s me Galaxy. You probably don’t know who I am, and that’s fair. I’m a director on this project now. I’ve been the head writer and have been working alongside Ava (someone you probably DO know) to completely revamp the story of this take. It all culminated with us feeling like a project rebrand was necessary and thus we are now Kitchen Crew’s Dustbelief.
Story changes
While the story is being drastically overhauled, I’ve done my best to translate things so that familiar story beats are still had, but trust me when I say a LOT of other stuff is changed. Unfortunately with the new story in mind we are going to be a little more selective with what we want to show. I can say with 100% certainty that it’s something that’s better experienced blind than with certain bits spoiled.
So far the team is looking over the story in full and deciding what little details would be best to flesh out, so if you’re someone who appreciates the little details like that then that’s good news for you. Unfortunately these new developments do mean that a previous statement saying that ALL assets for Prologue are done is now invalid. I would try to be a bit more specific by giving some silly statistics here of how each chapter is going but our current to-do-list for each Chapter is in need of an overhaul.
The entire game’s story is planned out, pretty much meaning there’s nothing left up in the air. I just need to find the time to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard I guess). I’m probably going to be rewriting some of the earlier encounters since those were done early on. So if you’ve seen any gifs or videos in the previews channel of our Discord server that dialogue isn’t final anymore. With that in mind, this means that the game’s full story should probably be done sometime late July? Once the story is done I can assure you all that asset production will ramp up!
As for what the future holds, while asset production will hopefully be ramping up coding progress will be taking a hit due to a lot of real life things going on resulting in some critical team members being busy. It’s unfortunate but there’s really not much we can do about it. For example, this update was supposed to come out on May 24th, this project’s birthday. We wanted to get a certain thumbnail ready for a song we’ll be showing below but stuff happened with its production and it got delayed to hell and back. It’s not really anyone’s fault, just a matter of poor circumstances.
This project is now 3 years old though and to my knowledge this project has never had a proper birthday update before. Due to the occasion, I wouldn’t want to leave you guys with a bunch of words and nothing else. As such we DO have some things we are ready to show off, ranging from varying importance to the story.
New Music
A Snowdin theme for the Prologue made by Leminade! It won’t play for very long in game but there’s definitely gonna be a few rooms where it does. This is one of those little detail things that probably doesn’t amount to much but I personally love it when games go through the effort to do so. Thumbnail should hopefully be updated soon but no promises.
Secondly, we have a new game over sequence and a new song to go along with it. This sequence and song will only play if you die during Sans Encounter. We just feel like it’s a cool little detail to have.
One of the bigger side effects of the drastic story overhaul. We felt like the new direction of True Lab Encounter and Chapter 2 as a whole warranted the old version feeling out of place. So we decided to redo it. The song was by SegaSonic101 and Leminade. The old one will still be up on Nox’s account.
So yeah that’s all for now. Hope this birthday update sufficed. This project’s been around for a full 3 years now and I’m glad to say I was a part of its revival.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you guys in the next update, whenever that may be.
Oh also during the time this post was delayed the page hit 2k followers! Thanks so much guys I’m really hoping we can show you guys some more stuff soon but we’ll just have to wait and see.
