Hey everyone, I wanted to update you all on the progress for UCN VR and my other VR projects.
First, I want to say that I am putting FFPS VR on hold and prioritizing the release of UCN VR and its Quest Port. After UCN VR, I will be taking a break from the Fnaf VR fangames so that I can work on my Attack on Titan VR fangame.
I don't have any release dates, I'm really not good with them, though the general timeframe I'm hoping to achieve is
- UCN VR (Sometime this summer)
- Attack on Titan VR Update 2 (Late 2022-Early 2023)
- FFPS VR (Late 2022 - Early 2023)
- Fnaf 4 VR (Sometime in 2023)
- Attack on Titan VR Update 3 (Late 2023)
That's my plan for my remaining games. After that, I'll be done with fangames in general, and will be moving on to working on original games that I can release on Steam,
And before I continue to the progress showcase of UCN VR, I want to clarify once again that.
Yes, all of these fangames will get a Quest port which will be released on SideQuest.
No, they won't get a Non-VR port.
No, they won't be on AppLab. I don't have the legal rights to put a fangame on an official store.
No, I won't be making VR versions of Fnaf fangames. Only the ones I have listed above will be ported to VR.
UCN VR Environment Progress
Starting off with this update is environments. If you have been paying attention to the game page (or be in the discord server), I have been updating both the visuals and the models for all the rooms, as well as doing heavy optimization to support the Quest version of the game.
Here's an example comparison of the old Prize Counter and the Updated Version:
You can view the updated versions of the other rooms on the game page.
Of all the rooms, here is a list of what is done, and what isn't:
- Office 1-4 (Not Done)- Left Hall- Closet- Right Hall- Pirate Cove- Funtime Cove- Toy Freddy's Room- Prize Counter
Along with the main map, I have also been setting up the environment for the miscellaneous areas such as a small cinema for cutscenes, Old Man Consequences map, and Mr. Hippo's study.
UCN VR Animation Progress
Progress on the animations has been going very well since February, from 30 unique animations to only 3 remaining. Jumpscares have also been started with only 24 out of 44 jumpscares currently remaining.
There is an insane amount of animation in this game, around 18 minutes of it, which is roughly the total animation time of Help Wanted + Curse of Dreadbear.
Here are some of my favorite animations:
Our goal right now is to finish all the remaining animations by the end of June.
Endnotes + Important Poll
That's pretty much it for this progress update. Once animations and environments are fully complete, I will begin programming and finalizing the game. I hope to have this out in the summer, however, there is one last thing that I would like to get community opinion on, mainly regarding the Quest port of the game.
In the poll below, I want your opinion on how the PCVR and the Quest version of the game should release. The poll will run for 2 weeks.
Option 1: Have the PCVR version release first, with the Quest version coming out at a later date.
Option 2: Have the PCVR version and the Quest version released at the same time. This will take an extra 1-2 months of waiting, as that's how long it takes for me to recode and reoptimize the PCVR version to Quest standalone.
Vote in the poll below, your feedback is greatly appreciated.
