Project Kolo - Update

Just a update :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG-wlPKPIFU&feature=youtu.be

Presently, we have changed the Weather System, while it isnt as fancy and pretty as before, it is much better on system performance.

Harvestable items are now being worked on, presently, all ‘things’ in the world are just for looks, and with this, well, its alot diffrent. If you gather wood for example from a tree, the tree will fall over, and roll away before vanishing and leaving the wood logs to collect.

World Generation code is almost complete. This will be the start on the each world is a diffrent world aspect. While the Terrain will always be the same for concerns of a generator leaving areas that would be unaccessable, the terrain will be hard coded, everything in it and on it will be random on a new game. Each area will be defined by the generator, and place objects based on the area, such as so many trees to a forest area, compared to so many trees on the mountain areas.

Currently we have a total of 33 trees, each one will give diffrent types of wood, with diffrent attributes, values, and difficulty/skill needed.

The Levels system is in place and working on the curve rates. This is not a traditional RPG where you level up and assign points, but more a you level up as you use this or that and level up in those areas. For example chopping down trees will increase certain main attributes, as well as certain skills related to that task.

Game Launcher has been Coded and tested. While only currently usable for Windows, the launcher was deisgned with the idea that there will be regular updates as we progress, and instead of re-downloading the entire thing every day, the launcher will check for and update files as patch data to save on space, since Unity3D engine uses large asset files, changing a tiny script would be the same as redownloading 90% of the game, this allows patching of only the changed information for quicker updates, less time waiting and more time playing.

The current intent is to get the ‘Tutorial Island’ finished, and uploaded. With this, it will only show the basics of the How To play more then the game itself, but will allow you to see what is happening and how the stuff works. As we finish other aspects or areas, the game will open them up for you as we go. The hope for the tutorial area is to have a setup for gathering and preparing basic needs, such as food gathering, and cooking, fishing, gathering wood, stones, crafting the basic stone tools, campfire, and Hopefully the first shelter you can build. This will allow you to see how every main aspect currently works or is hoped to work at least.

We are under attack!

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.

These are background sprites I've created for a game I'm working on at school ^w^ Click on the post to see how the sprites connect. You won't regret it! (personally, I think it's pretty heheh)
