The past few days have been spent reorganizing and optimizing the project. The core components of the collision engine are in place and functional / tested. It supports a large number of colliding entities at a steady framerate on decent hardware.
All of these asteroids are entities that are participating in collision detection.
The camera is zoomable so you can adjust it accordingly to what is going on.
From here, we will be directly moving into the gameplay engineering phase, which is where things really start to get interesting.
I plan on having resources which you can collect, random asteroid fields, random groups of enemies and other dynamic elements. As well as cool weapons and tools to take these things on with.
This project is still pretty early on in development and is currently just a hobby / portfolio booster project. As such, if you want to help with this project for learning / portfolio boosting purposes as well, feel free to get in touch with me on gamejolt, or via email at [email protected]
