PT for PC v0.9 is out!
At the time of me writing this, PT for PC v0.9 is uploading. It’s only 1GB in size but at the same time my upload speed is bad so I got hit with a connection timeout, unfortunately. Regardless, the download will be available in like 3 hours after writing this unless if my upload times out again. However, I have some things to say about v0.9.
UPDATE: So you know how YouTube has the feature where if you finish an upload and the video begins processing you can leave the upload page and do something else and the video still processes? Yeah so it turns out that gamejolt doesn’t actually have that feature. It just kinda deletes your upload which means I gotta upload this again
Some FYIs about v0.9
If you haven’t played PT before or you are not okay with potential bugs and unfinished animations or just a game that isn’t fully finished in general, DO NOT PLAY THIS VERSION, PLEASE.
While it is legit a pubic length away from being 100% done, it still isn’t finished yet. This version, while it is 100% fully playable and apart from animations and a few things here and there, is meant primarily for playtesting. If you really want to play it though, you can, though I would seriously not recommend it. If you spot any bugs, any missing things, you want to give feedback, you think there’s too much film grain, you think there needs to be more, this light needs to be changed a little bit, or anything, leave it in the comments section in the gamejolt page or something, idk. The full release, if I go the same pace I was (which I’m fairly certain I will), then v1.0 will probably release in like, 10 days maximum. As I get closer to finishing I’ll give a more specific date. Also, the game doesn’t save so if you get stuck on anything (which I’m about 99% sure that I fixed any collision problems but still) or if your power goes out or anything, you have to start over so I’m really wanting only playtesters to play this v0.9 but I’m not going to stop anyone from playing this.
So how is this different from other ports/remakes?
The big difference between this port/remake and the others (so far, at least) is that this will be 100% playable from start to end with gameplay fully intact. I spent a very large amount of hours studying walkthroughs, speedruns, and my own copy of PT on my PS4 to get the gameplay exactly right and make the graphics as good as I can. This is meant for anybody who wishes to have the original experience of the game with essentially the exact same graphics as well. However, there were a few things that I had to improvise on and that goes on to my next point.
IF YOU DATAMINED PT AND HAVE THE ORIGINAL ANIMATIONS OR IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCED IN ANIMATING AND YOU ARE WILLING TO HELP WITH ANIMATIONS, HMU ON TWITTER @Qimsar PREFERABLY BUT OTHER PLACES WORK TOO I GUESS PRETTY PLEASE :)
I only learned how to animate on Blender and whatnot like 4 days ago and I’m still really really bad at it like fr. If you can animate or you’ve datamined the OG game and have the animations please hit me up if you’re willing to help.
MINIMUM SPECS
I actually don’t have any minimum spec requirements yet because the lowest-end hardware that I’ve tested this on was on 2 of my homies’ GTX 750 Ti’s. If you have something equivalent to a GTX 750 Ti, PT for PC will run at 1080p at like 45FPS. If you’re higher, PT for PC will probs go at 60FPS. Also, here’s a cute little fact I didn’t realize until I started: PT for PS4 ran only at 30PS.
Aquareon from Reddit, this version doesn’t support VR I don’t think. I’m so sorry.
v1.0 will, though.
IN THE START LOOK LEFT/RIGHT FOR SHOUTOUT AND TUTORIAL TEXT
There isn’t really anything for me to say about this, this is just in case if you miss the giant text in the beginning or something and ye
If you do choose to play v0.9, please enjoy :)
Also, I monologue for a bit once the game is over. That recording was made 6/21/2018 so it’s not entirely up-to-date.
Also, if any of you all have ideas for loops, leave those ideas in the comments section and I may add it to the v1.0 :)
