PvP Guide for Don't Forget

Hello, my name is Splinter01 and in this guide I am going to show you strategies, how to dodge each attack for each type and some tips. I hope my guide will help you to overcome your struggles in PvP and make it more enjoyable.


This guide uses a lot of gif images so it might take a while to fully load

FAQ

Q: How do I challenge someone for PvP?

A: By pressing P (or by typing /pvp in the global chat) you’ll open the PvP list and then you’ll select player's name if they are in the same room as you.

Q: Does Love, Rank, Power, Weapon and Armor matter in PvP?

A: No. Everyone starts with 99HP and 50TP. The only thing that matters is your own dodging skill.

Q: How do I Rank up?

A: You’ll gain points for killing other players in PvP (You’ll not gain or lose points if you Spare).

Basic PvP Tips

1) Always use all of your HEALs

- HEAL will heal you 15HP and costs 75TP

- Use HEAL when you are at 84HP or lower

- There is no shame in using HEAL in PvP. Everyone uses it, those who don’t will always lose

2) If your health is above 84HP and you have more than 70TP, consider using a SLOW spell.

- You can farm over 30TP from some attacks which will exceed the 99TP cap, causing you to lose TP points

3) SLOW should be your next primary spell after you use all your HEALs.

- SLOW spell costs just 25TP and it is generally a better spell than CONFUSION (50TP) for most situations

4) Just like in Undertale, when holding X or shift, the SOUL moves slower.

- This comes in handy while dodging slow moving bullets such as the Rolling Leaf from Grass type or the Electric Storm from Electric type

Fighting Type is very common in PvP so it is a good idea to learn attacks for this type first. Fighting Type can be difficult to learn at first, but with enough practice it will not become a problem.

- You can notice in all of my Fighting Type gifs that I am lightly tapping right each turn. I am doing this to avoid the first homing bullet from the Knife Storm attack that sometimes seems to come out of nowhere at a 45° angle. This tactic is optional and you can rely on your reaction time instead.

Knife Storm

Knife Storm is a homing attack that targets your SOUL’s position. This attack is very good for TP farming once you learn how to dodge it.

- Fire rate of this attack is randomized

- The angle of the first knife is randomized

- Always look for an opening to switch sides

Knife Storm - Alternative

Alternate version on how to dodge this attack. 

- This alternative version is very useful for the CONFUSION spell as there are less keys to press

Knife Storm - Slow

Slow spell effect makes this attack more difficult to dodge.

- When you see the “Slowdown” icon highlighted, always move down, and then right. By moving down you will dodge the Fists Attack if it is isn’t the Knife Storm attack

Fists Attack

Fists Attack has to be dodged with clockwise circles. You will naturally gain a lot of TP from this attack.

- The first fist always comes from upper left side

- This attack is difficult to dodge with the CONFUSION spell effect and it requires a lot of practice to get used to inverted controls. 

If you get hit by the CONFUSION spell effect: press Up ,Right ,Down ,Left and then repeat the cycle

Fists Attack - Slow

One of the most difficult attacks to dodge. This requires a lot of practice to get the timing right.

Vertical Knife Spam

This is a very simple attack that shoot 11 knives from the bottom.

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Blue and Orange Swords

This is a very simple attack to dodge

- Blue swords always come from the left side and orange swords from the right side

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Bone Type is the second most common type in-game. It is the only type in the game that has no attacks with random patterns.

Bone Type has a unique property where you can farm a maximum of 15TP per turn from bone type attacks.

-This unique property will limit how many SPELLs you can use in a fight against bone types.

Bone Sticks

With a little practice, this attack is not very difficult to dodge with counter clockwise circles.

- This attack is more difficult to dodge with the CONFUSION spell and it requires a lot of practice to get used to inverted controls.

If you get hit by CONFUSION spell: press Left, Down, Right, Up and then repeat the cycle

Bone Sticks - Slow

The first hit can be difficult to dodge and it requires some practice.

- When you see Slowdown highlighted, be ready to move diagonally down left if you get Bone Sticks attack.

- This attack gives you very little time to react so be always ready to move diagonally down left

Bone Spiral

This attack is very easy to dodge with counter clockwise movement.

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Bone Wall 1

This attack is one of the two variants of the Bone Wall attack.

- This variant is easier than the second variant

- You can hold X/Shift to traverse through the corridor with more precision to reduce the chance of accidentally running into the wall

Bone Wall 1 - Slow

The slow version is a little more difficult than the normal version but still it is not as difficult as the Bone Wall 2 - Slow variant.

Bone Wall 2

This variant of the Bone Wall attack is a little more difficult to dodge than the first variant.

Bone Wall 2 - Slow

The slow version is more difficult to dodge and requires some practice.

- Move to the right to gain more space and then hold left when dodging the long bone pole

Bone Wheel

This is a very simple attack that spawn 8 spinning wheels.

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Grass Type is strong thanks to one attack that can become undodgeable when under the SLOW spell effect.

Leaf Storm

Leaf Storm is an attack that shoots leaves from both left and right sides that can slightly shift flight trajectory.

- Prioritize dodging bullets over farming TP

- Always try to stay at the upper or lower level of the Bullet Board without touching the walls

- Always try to stay close to the middle. Never go far left or right unless you are forced

Leaf Storm - Slow

It can be sometimes difficult to dodge a bullet under the SLOW spell effect

- Prioritize dodging bullets over farming TP

- Always try to stay at the upper or lower level of the Bullet Board without touching the walls

- Always try to stay close to the middle. Never go far left or right unless you are forced

Stick Attack

This attack spawns blue or white long branches that always come from the left side. 

-Always stay at the right side

Stick Attack - Slow

This attack can be sometimes impossible to dodge under the SLOW spell effect

- The only tactic here is to move to the upper or lower level of the Bullet Board and hope that you'll not get hit too many times. Branches are too long to try to dodge it under the SLOW spell effect unless you are lucky and get blue branches between each white branch attack

Rolling Leaf

This attack spawns 3 big rolling leaves that always come from the left side. You will naturally farm a lot of TP from this attack.

- Hold X or Shift for more precise dodging

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Jumping Grass

This attack can be a little tricky to learn, but with enough practice, you can easily farm tons of TP from this attack.

- Jumping Grass will always spawn beneath your SOUL position

- Jumping Grass will flash three times before it launches up

- Five attacks in total launch up in one turn

- Move immediately to the right once the third attack spawns and then move left once three attacks lunch up

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Fire Type is the least used type in the game. Fire Type is not very difficult to learn and you can farm a lot of TP from Fire Type attacks

Jumping Fireballs

This attack randomly shoots fireballs from the bottom of the Bullet Board.

- A fireball will not lunch up in the same spot twice within 3-4 seconds

- You can hold Shift or X for more precise dodging

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Falling Fire Bombs

This is the most difficult Fire Type attack to dodge for new players. This attack will always spawn bombs above your SOUL

There are two methods on how to deal with this attack more easily, but it depends on the player. The two best ways to deal with this attack are:

1) Using your reaction time

  • This one is pretty straightforward. You can react faster to this attack when you see no clouds on the bottom level or on the sides of the Bullet Board.

2) Using a premature move each turn

  • This is for players who have trouble to react to this attack quickly

  • For every turn, hold down+left while holding X/Shift. You will automatically dodge the first bomb and then move right and left to dodge the bombs. You can let go of X/Shift after you dodge the first bomb

  • Fire Type attacks have a long start up so you can easily dodge other attacks if you won't get Falling Fire Bombs attack

- In this gif I am using dodging method number 2 as I described above

- The hitbox of flames is smaller than the sprite

- You can farm tons of TP from this attack

- This method is very useful when dodging this attack under the SLOW spell effect

- In this gif I am using dodging method number 2 as I described above

- The hitbox of flames is smaller than the sprite

- You can farm tons of TP from this attack

Fireballs from Sides

This attack shoots fireballs from both left and right sides. This attack is not difficult to dodge.

- It is preferable to stay at the lower or upper level of the Bullet Board without touching the walls 

- You can hold X/Shift for more precise dodging

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Falling Fireballs

This attack spawns big fireballs that fall down in a zigzagging pattern. 

- Stay at the left side to dodge the attack more easily

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Electric type doesn't have difficult patterns to learn but it is as much as easier to get hit in bullet hell attacks

Electric Storm

Electric Storm is an RNG attack that can trap you if you are not careful.

- Always try to stay at the top. You should go down only when you are forced to

- Hold X/Shift for more precise dodging

- The size of the hitbox is smaller than the actual sprite

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Falling Boxes

Falling Boxes is an RNG attack that can trap you if you are cornered. 

- Try not to get cornered unless you are forced to

- The size of the hitbox is smaller than the actual sprite - roughly the size of the inner black circle

- You can hold X/Shift for more precise dodging

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Zap Boxes

This attack shoots diagonal bullets out of the boxes but it does not match the position of the box sprite

- The boxes shoot randomly for up to two attacks

- The boxes can shoot from outside the Bullet Board, so be careful

- Try to stay away from boxes and farm TP from bullets

Electric Rows

This is a very simple attack that can be dodged very easily

- Electric Rows comes from above or below

- The actual hitbox is smaller than the sprite

- The left row always shoots first from both the above and below version

Electric Rows - Slow

- This attack is very easy to dodge thanks to very small hitboxes

Normal Type is infamous for its occasional unescapable walls of death from the Diagonal Orbs attack and unexpected snipes from the Rising Orbs attack. You can also get trapped from the Slow Orbs attack if you are not careful.

- As a normal type, always use the SLOW spell. Using the CONFUSION spell is very risky because of the Zigzagging Orbs attack where you can just stay still in the middle of the Bullet Board to not to get hit and effectively waste 50TP. 

- For each turn, move your SOUL a little up to give you more time to react to unexpected snipes from the Rising Orbs attack

Rising Orbs

Be wary of unexpected snipes at the start of a turn. It is advised to move your SOUL a little up for each turn to give you more time to react. 

- Orbs always rises from the bottom

- In this gif, I barely dodged a snipe from the bottom. If I didn't move up, I would've gotten hit by the attack

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Diagonal Orbs

This attack is infamous for its occasional unescapable walls of death and difficult to dodge one space squeezes.

- Orbs always come from the upper left corner at a diagonal angle

Slow Orbs

Slow moving orbs that always come from the left side and from the bottom.

- Hold X/Shift for more precise dodging

- This attack can trap you if you are not careful

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Zigzagging Orbs

This attack spawns zigzagging orbs that always come from the right side.

- Just stay in the center to dodge this attack

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Water Type is the only type in the game that has all 4 attacks randomized, making it a very good choice for PvP. The only downside of this type is that you can farm a lot of TP from Water Type attacks.

Fish Attack

Fish randomly spawns at the bottom of the Bullet Board and shoots bullets that target your SOUL's position. This attack is difficult to dodge and requires a lot of practice to dodge this attack consistently.

- Each fish shoots up to 3 bullets before it disappears

- Always go up and then slowly left or right

- You usually dodge and switch sides at the incoming third salvo

Water Spits

Water Spits is an attack that shoots diagonal bullets. 

- Stay close to the middle of the Bullet Board and dodge all bullets with slight movements

- You can hold X/Shift for more precise dodging

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Rain Cloud

Rain Cloud is an attack that shoots continuous stream of bullets that can trap you easily.

- Try not to get cornered unless you are forced to

- You can hold X/Shift for more precise dodging

- This also works when under the SLOW spell effect

Rain Drops

This is a very simple attack that shoots bullets from the top.

- Stay at the bottom of the Bullet Board to dodge bullets

- Do not overestimate this attack when under the Slow spell effect as you can easily get sniped
