Can you explain the mechanics?

Final answer
Press the laser buttons to activate lasers in SOME rooms. You can also toggle the map from Halls to Rooms. Do this to change the directions of the corners. Please note that lasers will deactivate when the passages block the room that the passage is blocked. You can also take a picture of them to slow them down. Finally, if none of those work, activate the lasers in your room! You can activate only 1 at a time!
