Hello everybody. So I’ve been working on a lot of the artwork for the game over the past few days, and I’m pleased to say that I made significant progress. I’m using Blender to make a 3D player (because I can’t make 2D players. I’m a programmer, not a sprite artist), but then use a top down render to capture the model and the animation I want used. The base model is basically finished with the exception of a defenseman’s stick*, and now it’s just time to animate.
After animation, I will start working on the texturing of the 50 world teams chosen to be represented in this game (if your nation is not represented, do not fear, I plan to add a way to make custom teams).
On the programming side of things, it’s all just concepts right now. I figured out the math for deciding statistics, scheduling, AI game simulation, etc.
For statistics, I’m using a 0-99 rating system, 99 being the highest. The world teams will range from 60-99, which will affect the overall team’s passing and shooting accuracy, speed of their movements and shots, etc.
For scheduling, I’m thinking a 16-20 game schedule, or allow the player to choose? Let me know your thoughts.
I’ve also come up with a coin-based system to unlock locked teams, new strategies, skills, etc. This will be most prevalent in the android version, but also featured in the PC version. Coins will be earned by playing, and winning games, but can also be bought in bundles in the mobile version. (I don’t think I will offer this on the PC version to comply with Gamejolt’s rules. If this is okay, someone let me know. But just to clarify: You will not be required to make ANY purchases.).
*For those new to lacrosse, there are 3 stick types: short sticks, 3 feet long. D-poles of D-sticks, 6 feet long, and goalie sticks.
That’s all I have for today. I will not be working today or tomorrow due to the semester starting back up. Progress may slow a bit due to this, but it will be released hopefully by Spring, the PC version maybe earlier.
