Ready Player Me is Shut Down


Hey everyone, I have sad news today: Netflix has acquired Ready Player Me​, the character customization service that Backrooms: The Lore uses. They have shut down their entire service as of 31 January 2026.

I have taken a database snapshot of all of your custom avatar links in case of a miracle, but otherwise, all players now have the default avatar to avoid loading errors (The default avatar is shipped with the game and is loaded from the disk).

As for the future, I will do research to either find a suitable alternative character customization service or have non-customizable characters for the next update of Backrooms: The Lore.

​I updated Abnormal after 4 years to add support for Backrooms: The Lore skins, Android version and an engine update. 

Nothing else has changed! This means that it's still using the old version of Cute Adblocker with its difficult gunplay at its core :)
