Realm of Rulers 0.7 Pre Alpha Update Returns!


Realm of Rulers 0.7 Update

Version 0.7 of Realm of Rulers brings reworked AI systems, new explorable environments (caves, structures and more!), day night saving and a reworked construction mode!

Previous 0.7 Update Crash Bug

We took down version 0.7 previously due to a nasty crash bug on loading or creating a new save.

This was due to a new system that made your save slots show their city names. A tiny change you may say! The smallest things can often be the last to be tried.

Reverting to a previous backup of the game files was required due to a potential rework of the entire loading system with the project files so this is a lesson to all. Make backups often!

We apologize about the delay but here below is update 0.7 and the changes we have made!

AI Standing Still

Lumberjack AI systems have been fixed which means they will not stand still permanently. This also affects other AI classes so expect a large improvement of reliability!

Outlaw Camps

We have added two more outlaw camps to the game with one smaller one in the forests and one larger base in a new segment of the map. Here are some screenshots of how they look in game:

More outlaw camps will be added as time goes on.

Saving Time of Day

This was a big feature that was left out from the original few builds of RoR but we now have it implemented into the game!

When you load your game up you will be at the same time as were you last left off! This improves the persistence of the game and makes a more seamless experience.

Reworked Construction Mode

The first version of the construction mode gave the player the ability to place buildings wherever they chose but it had its downsides…

The new system snaps objects’ locations and rotations to the floor and locks the object to the floor to prevent going underneath. This mode also has a toggle so if the snapping is not desirable the Z key can move between snapping and freeform building. This new system can also be moved forwards, backwards and rotated with the Q and E keys like usual.

This overhaul makes building in RoR a little bit more fun and user friendly.

Community Spotlight

This community spotlight goes to Forum user genises150 for working through some new suggested upgrades with us such as including a variable height mode for building and dirt path systems which will be included in future.

  • Save slots are greyed out if the slot doesn’t contain any save game

  • Reworked construction mode with ground snapping

  • Adjusted spawn chest to give 2 axes and a hammer

  • Fixed graphical options menu getting stuck and preventing the menu to be closed

  • Help book pops up automatically when the player opens the starting chest

  • Default render scale is 75% to initially improve performance

  • Fixed farmers getting stuck on null path collision bounds

  • Increased durability amount for all items

  • Fixed music state not saving over multiple sessions

  • Added new sickle item to gather barley faster

  • Time of day now saves to slots

  • Removed item dragging on furnaces as this caused many game crashes (Press escape or the x button on the furnace interface to get your items back)

  • Adjusted player lighting and torch intensity (Lens flares were too powerful)

  • Added citizen count to statistics page of guide book

  • Added new mountain top forest area

  • Added mountain top forest area outlaw camps

  • Added large outlaw base (The haven)

  • Fixed some null reference inventory warnings

  • Fixed some null reference hotkey errors

  • Made walking sounds stop playing while in the air, falling or jumping (Found by Chun)

Pretty large changelog this update!
