regarding duk battlegrounds (and tnwt 3 aswell (and other things))


im completely burnt out of gamedev right now, especially with tnwt 3 and how terribly i try planning things, the concept is not even done yet and with a game as big as a rougelike, it lead to kinda a mess right now and i dont know where to go

i keep on rushing into coding as soon as a mind boggling amount of ideas rush into my head at once, adding things as im making the game (which to all of future game devs or current ones, DO NOT do this), which is a very bad habit of mine

as @Mr_UnoBees puts it well, "you bite off more than you can chew"

also sharing a shitton about the game before release, increasing hype too much and making too much of a supply and demand situation, i originally wanted tnwt 3 to be developed in 100% secret before release and drop the bomb on halloween

the last game released before duk battlegrounds was tnwt 2, in which i did the same exact mistakes with that game as duk battlegrounds during development, and also scratch being WAAAYYY too weak to carry a game such as dbg

which is the result of me sacrificing several hours of my life into the game, i took my fucking laptop to school just to work on the damn thing whenever i could however i could, even during exams

i dont know if im gonna pick this junk up again, rework it from the ground up in python, but i should try making smaller and simpler games first before diving into the meat and potatoes, especially since duk battlegrounds was made to compete in the likes of other platform fighters (online mode, several single player modes, 50 unique weapons, how the everloving fuck would one person develop all of that on his own?)

this also applies to "tnwt 3" aswell, i dont even know if im gonna finish it, which would be disappointing on my part, especially since so much has already been made for the game, but since a lot of it is art, i may reuse some of it if i dont look back on it in a few months and think "wow, what a hunk of shit this is lmfao"

for that, i very much apologize that this game's "release" was a big flop, a bad thing on my part for sure

i have so many concepts for games that are simply too big to shrink down to a 2-4 hour game, but i'll have to put those off in favor of smaller things, mostly in python, but i might pick up turbowarp from time to time, maybe if theres any scratch game jams i can use tw there (not the gandi ide ones, i would join griffpatch's but you must be in griffpatch academy (who tf would pay for scratch tutorials?? i used this junk for 4 years with no help and made dbg out of it))

again, i am very sorry for this gigantic fumble of a game that you and i name "duk battlegrounds".
