Released Prototype: Airwaves v05

The 6th prototype (again, not a typo!), pre-alpha version Prototype: Airwaves is now out! We added some polish after receiving a lot of feedback from the builds of the previous version. These polishes include:

  • Improved steering controls.

    • Default controls has been loosened based on feedback indicating it was too sensitive.

    • A new options menu allows adjusting the sensitivity of the controls.

  • Updated track textures and vehicle particle effects to provide more context.

    • Track texture now indicates which way is forward.

    • The trail particle that appears below the vehicle when grounded changes when it’s drifting.

  • New track generation features: oscillation. This new feature generates wave-like formations.

  • Changed how drift will be interrupted. Instead of canceling immediately after hitting a wall or obstacle, it cancels when either:

    • One hits a wall or obstacle 3 or more times, or

    • Speed drops dramatically.

  • And more!

Unfortunately, attempting to update the WebGL build has proved to be a nightmare, so it’s currently on hold. We’re working hard on bringing it back, but we have been dealing with one problem after another with it.

We're knee deep in multiple large features and "game feel". Quick peek behind the scenes in this weeks Dev Blog: https://bit.ly/2QmmaQM

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
