The Destruction

Tommy stands over the 100 meter deep crater, watching the people fighting the withers. He wipes the blood off his face and grips his netherite sword, ready to jump in and join the fight. He looks over the edge of the crater one last time, seeing a figure walking across it.

“It couldn’t be...” He says. He looks towards the withers then back to the figure. Curiosity gets the better of him. He grabs a pearl from his pocket, an ancient item which would teleport him to the spot it hit. He aims and throws the pearl towards the figure, breathing in a huge breath hoping it hits. He suddenly teleports on the other side of the crater, feeling his body disappear and reappear. He looks around for the figure, turning to his left and right.

“Well, if it isn’t Theseus.” A man says from behind him. He instantly remembers the voice and says without even turning around,

“Technoblade.”

“I see you aren’t fighting the withers Tommy.” Technoblade says, with a hint of frustration and smugness at the same time. Tommy turns around to see Technoblade sitting on the edge of the crater.

“I was going to...” Tommy says as he readjusts his sword, “But what I really came for is you.”

“Ah, I knew you couldn’t go a day without me Theseus.” Technoblade says as he gets up, now standing over the crater.

“Stop calling me that.” Tommy says, starting to get frustrated. Technoblades pig face smiles at Tommy, like he is amused by this.

“But it’s true, you were the hero of your nation then they exiled you. Exactly what happened to Theseus.” Technoblade says, still sounding smug. He starts to walk over to Tommy.

“Stay back!” Tommy yells as he raises his sword towards Technoblade.

“Do you think I would hurt you Tommy, after the months I took care of you?” Technoblade says, tilting his head a little bit.

“You sound like Dream now.” Tommy says.

“I may sound like Dream, but at least I didn’t drive you to the point of breaking.” Technoblade’s smile gets bigger, “In fact I did the opposite, I picked you up when he brought you down.” Tommy starts to get flashbacks of exile, Dream destroying his stuff everyday, the day Dream blew up his home, the day he made a tower and nearly jumped…

“STOP IT!” Tommy yells, tears starting to get in his eyes.

“But I guess you and Dream are somewhat alike.” Technoblade says. He moves more towards Tommy.

“Back off Technoblade.” Tommy says, but it doesn’t phase the man moving towards him. “How.. How are me and Dream similar?” Technoblade laughs.

“Well, he betrayed you in the end right. You did the exact same to me.” Tommy freezes, shocked by what he said. He lowers the sword. Technoblade takes the opportunity. He jumps at Tommy, grabbing him and knocking him to the ground. His sword gets knocked out of his hand.

“Egh..” Tommy grunts. Technoblade laughs.

“What did I teach you Tommy, don’t bring down your defences no matter what.” Technoblade says.

“I didn’t betray you Techno, you betrayed me.” Tommy says, trying to get himself together. A wither skull flies past Technos face. He laughs again.

“Do you remember what happened yesterday?” Technoblade says.

...

The two of them emerge from the cracked, broken portal, ready to do their supply run. Tommy steps off onto the cracked brick floor around the portal with stairs going towards the community house. But where was the community house?

“Tommy, back here now.” Technoblade says, indicating to get behind the portal. Tommy rushes behind. “Look at the community house.” Tommy gets a better look at the community house, well, what is left of it. All there was left of it was a huge amount of water. The walls were gone. Everyone was surrounding it and it sounds like there was yelling going on there. Tommy feels something being put in his hand. He looks and sees an invisibility potion. “Use that and get in there. We need to know what is going on and we can’t be seen.” Tommy nods and drinks down the invisibility.

“Got it.” He says. He starts to move across the old, wooden bridge, fast but silently. He reaches the mountain of water, but he doesn’t swim up it knowing it will make noise. He looks around and sees an opening in the water which will allow him to enter silently. He silently enters and sees where the yelling was coming from. Dream and Tubbo were talking, standing on the shattered floor. 

“You were allowed to run the country and look what has happened, he blew up the community house!” Dream yells. Dream looks really angry.

“He was meant to be in exile, I don’t know how he could even get here.” Tubbo says, trying to reason with the angry man.

“I saw him here, he was leaving when I ran into him.” Dream says. Everyone standing above them gives shocked looks. Tubbo stutters for a second trying to put his words together. “Yeah, how about that president.” Tubbo just looks towards the floor, unable to say anything. Tommy feels shocked to see Tubbo lost for words but he can’t reveal himself now. “You know what, give me the disc.” Dream summons an ender chest, a magical item which a person could store anything and only they can access it. He puts it down and indicates for Tubbo to open it. Tubbo’s hand slowly glides towards it. Tommy downs milk quickly to remove the invisibility.

“No!” Tommy yells as he reveals himself to everyone. He walks fully into the mess that is the destroyed community house. He can see every bit of damage, the shattered glass, tables knocked over or broken entirely. Tubbo looks up at Tommy.

“What are you doing here Tommy?” Tubbo asks, he doesn’t lose the expression he had earlier, the expression of disappointment.

“I came to see L’manberg.” Tommy replies, giving him a little smile. Tubbo doesn’t do the same however, instead he gets an angry expression.

“Did you do this?” Tubbo asks, indicating with his hand to the whole community house. Before Tommy didn’t feel the stares of everyone, but now he does.

“No I didn’t.” He says, keeping a straight face.

“Kinda hard to believe the exiled person saying they didn’t do something like this.” Tubbo says, not even looking at him. Tommy walks closer to Tubbo.

“Look at me Tubbo.” Tubbo doesn’t, Tommy moves closer. “Tubbo, please look.” Tubbo still doesn’t listen. “TUBBO!” Tommy yells. This catches Tubbo’s attention enough to look at Tommy who at this point is directly in front of him. “I didn’t do this Tubbo, you have to believe me here.” He places his hands on Tubbo’s shoulders. Tubbo attempts to remove them. “Please.” Tubbo continues to try to remove his hands, getting more pushy.

“Let go Tommy.” Tubbo says, in a warning tone. Tommy doesn’t. Tubbo puts his hand in his pocket and before Tommy knew it, he falls to the floor with a pain in his arm. Dream at this point has gone up the water to join everyone else. Tommy looks at his arm, it’s bleeding. He then looks towards Tubbo, he has a netherite sword in his hand, with Tommy’s blood on it. There is no remorse in his eyes. Tommy gets up grabbing out The Axe Of Peace.

“Do you really want to do this?” Tommy asks, trying to dilute the situation. Tubbo walks forward, ready to fight. “Fine then.” Tubbo runs at Tommy, swinging his sword at him with great force. Tommy slides across dodging the attack. He swings the axe at Tubbo, cutting off a bit of hair. “I don’t want to hurt you Tubbo.”

“I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD TOMMY!” Tubbo yells, swinging the sword at him again. Tommy narrowly dodges. “You know what, the world would be better with you dead.” Everyone gasps, no one expected Tubbo to ever say that. Tubbo swings once again, this time colliding with Tommy. When Tubbo pulls back it creates a cut on Tommy’s leg. Tommy sucks in a breath of pain. Tommy thinks for a second about what he should do. He throws down the axe, standing his ground.

“I’m not going to fight you Tubbo.” Tommy says, “And I don’t think you want to fight me either.” Tommy holds out his bruised hands. “Please, can we stop this?” Tubbo looks at Tommy then back at his sword. He does this a few times before making his decision. He swings towards Tommy’s head with great force. Tommy sees this and grabs the blade of the sword, keeping it from his skin but yanking it out of Tubbo’s hands. Tubbo falls to the ground. “You know what!” Tommy yells, throwing the sword on the ground. “THE DISCS ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOU EVER WILL BE!” Everyone gasps again, more louder than before. Tommy looks towards Tubbo, battered from the fall and tears filling in his eyes. Instant regret fills him as he realises what he said to his best friend. “Tubbo...” Tommy moves over to him, offering him a hand getting up. Tubbo takes it and Tommy pulls him up.

“I think this has been quite enough for you two.” Someone says, who Tommy can only remember to be Dream. He comes down from the crowd, face of annoyance on him. “Now Tubbo, the disc.” Dream indicates towards the ender chest again. Tubbo hesitates, looking towards Tommy. 

“Give it to him.” Tommy says, full of guilt. Tubbo looks confused.

“But yo...” Tubbo starts.

“Just do it Tubbo.” Tommy says. Tubbo hesitates once again but this time walks over to the ender chest and places his hand in it. When he removes it from the chest he pulls out a circular disc. The middle of it is purple. “Mellohi.” Tommy says, still feeling guilty. Tubbo turns towards Dream, putting out the hand with the disc in it. Dream takes it, walks over to the ender chest and puts it in.

“Finally.” Dream says, with a hint of relief in his voice.

“You just made this a hundred times harder Tommy.” A voice says from behind him, the voice of Technoblade. Everyone starts to move down on the two of them. “Listen Tommy, we can pearl out of here. You can go and I will fight them off for you.” Tommy breathes in.

“Listen Techno, this isn’t what I...” Tommy starts, moving towards Tubbo.

“Think of what you are about to say Tommy, cause you can’t undo this.” Technoblade warns him. Tommy steps more towards Tubbo.

“This isn’t the person I want to be Technobalde.” Tommy says, standing by Tubbo.

“You are an idiot Tubbo.” Dream says, this causes everyone to stop moving.

“No, I’m not.” Tubbo says, defending himself.

“Oh really.” Dream says, starting to laugh a little. “You gave me the ONE thing I needed to destroy L’manberg.” Everyone looks shocked once again. “Look, I don’t even care about L’manberg. Now that I have what I want I am going to destroy L’manberg. NOTHING WILL BE LEFT BEHIND WHEN I AM DONE!” When he finishes his mask is tilted a bit. Dream looks over to Technoblade. “You have those withers at your home right?” Technoblade smiles maliciously.

“Of course Dream.” Technoblade says. “Does that mean that you want my help destroying L’manberg?”

“Of course, you are the best person to do it. After all, you do hate governments.” They both smile. Everyone starts moving in on Technoblade. “You better go, they seem angry.”

“Yeah I should.” Technoblade grabs out a pearl, then looks at Tommy. “Last chance.” Tommy stands his ground beside Tubbo. Technobalde gives a look of disapproval. “Can’t say I didn't try.” He throws the pearl out, it takes a second but he disappears.

...

TNT starts falling from the sky. Tommy looks up and sees Dream making the destruction worse with his TNT machines constantly dropping TNT. Tommy looks back to Technoblade. “You were never my friend, you never thought of me as a friend.” Tommy says, trying to find reason in this situation.

“I did, I very much did.” Technoblade says with a hint of frustration in his voice. “But you showed that you didn’t want to be my friend that day.”

“YOU NEVER THOUGHT OF ME AS A FRIEND TECHNO!” Tommy yells, finally giving in to his anger.

“I would’ve fought all those people for you, if that isn’t friendship I don’t know what is.” Technoblade says, starting to yell but not quite there. Tommy gets up, attempting to attack Technoblade without a weapon. Instead of colliding his hit he stumbles towards the crater due to the injury on his leg. He falls off the edge, but gets caught by Technoblade. Tommy looks up at him, “And I am still helping you, even now.”

“L’manberg did nothing to you.” Tommy says, tears starting to fall down the crater. Technoblade for a split second gives a look of empathy. It is immediately switched out for a smug look.

“Yes they did Tommy, you're too young to know but know what they did caused this.” He says. Tommy disappears, Technoblade looks confused for a second but looks down and sees him at the bottom. “Goodbye Theseus.” Technoblade turns and walks away from the edge of the crater.

...

Nothing is left by the time the fighting is up, not a single remnant of what L’manberg once was. This was worse than last time, where he blew it up. Tommy is still on the floor where he teleported by the pearl. He stayed there afterwards without the strength to get up. Everyone in fact is extremely tired after fighting the withers, whilst Tommy is tired from the mental battle he had with Technoblade. Someone touches him and he groans. They grab him and get him up against the wall.

“Are you ok Tommy?” They ask. He looks at them

“Yeah Ghostbur.” Tommy says, giving Ghostbur a reassuring smile. Tommy gets a better look at the destruction in the crater itself. It is all just cracked, broken stone. Ghostbur looks upset.

“Wh… Who did this?” He asks.

“Ah, Dream, Phil and...” He starts.

“Phil?” Ghostbur says, with shock in his voice.

“Yeah, Phil helped with this.” Tommy says.

“Ghostbur, are you ok?” A man behind him says. Tommy just sits and watches.

“Phil...” Ghostbur turns around, “Did you help destroy L’manberg?” There was silence for a moment. Phil’s shattered wings go back behind him.

“Yeah, yeah I did.” He says. He has a look of guilt.

“Is.. Is friend ok?” Ghostbur asks. Phil looks even more guilty after that question.

“N.. No.” Phil says. “I.. I left him in my house so he’d be safe. I wasn’t expecting the destruction to be this big.” Silence reigns supreme for a moment after that.

“You.. You knew friend was in your house.” Ghostbur says. Phil stands silently.

“I didn’t know it would….” Phil starts.

“Stop, STOP, STOP!” Ghostbur says. Phil looks even worse. “You knew friend was in your house, you knew everything everyone owned was in this town!”

“I...”

“Stop, I don’t want to listen. I don’t want to hear what you have to say.” Ghostbur says. He looks around “Phil, I’ve read the history books. You slayed the dragon, you slayed Alivebur but how can you look at this,” Ghostbur indicates everywhere, “And still call yourself a hero.” Phil looks down at the ground. “I know I’m an insomniac, I know I’m like the comic relief in all your stories but I still feel this.” Ghostbur drops to his knees. “I still feel things.” He starts sobbing, breaking down for the first time ever. Phil looks guilty to the point he can’t even think of anything else anymore but the crying ghost in front of him.

“Never to start a government, never to turn normal, innocent people against each other for power.” Phil says. “That’s why.” Philza turns around, pearl in hand. He throws it towards the top of the crater. “You’ll understand someday.” He disappears. Ghostbur is still crying. Tommy gets up and moves over to him. He sits down beside Ghostbur, putting an arm around him and comforting him.  A figure comes into view, running towards them. Tommy notices who it is immediately.

“Tubbo.” Tommy yells as he gets closer. When he gets more into view Tommy sees the damage Tubbo received fighting the withers. There is cuts and bruises all over him from the fighting. He arrives over to them, seeing Ghostbur crying.

“Ghostbur...” Tubbo says as he sits down beside him, putting an arm around him as well. For a while they just sat there, comforting Ghostbur. There was some peace till a figure appeared in front of them. His green hoodie over his head, his mask straightened to perfection.

“Dream.” Tommy says in a tone of anger. He gets up, moving towards the evil man in front of him. “YOU MESSED UP!” Tommy swings at him, the hit colliding. It doesn’t phase Dream however.

“Hey Tommy, good to see you again.” He says.

“Mr funny man hey.” Tommy says, still very angry. Tommy looks around again.

“I did say it would be all gone when I was done.” Dream says, his tone very smug. “You should have believed me.”

“Why are you still here then?”

“Well, I wanted to come see you.” Dream says with an extremely smug smile.

“Why must you do that?” Dreams smile gets even bigger.

“Well, you’re just too fun Tommy.” Dream laughs.

“You bi-” Tommy starts.

“WELL, I better get out of here shouldn’t I?” Dream grabs out a pearl. “I’ll be back soon, I’m not finished with you Tommy.” Dream throws the pearl as Tommy goes for another punch. “Enjoy everything while you can.” Dream then disappears just as Tommy’s punch was going to collide. Tommy loses balance, falling to the ground. The sun starts to rise, and the moon starts to disappear. Everyone is in grief from the loss of their country. They all meet up where Ghostbur is still crying. They look around, and Tommy sees a horrible sight. Fire, but not just anywhere. Fire burning down the tree that has been in the nation since the beginning. L’manberg was gone.

“Well, I heard there was a special place.” Tommy sings, with everyone slowly joining in to sing the words with him. The words of the anthem.

“Where men could go and emancipate, the brutality and the tyranny of their ruler. Well, this place is real and we needn’t fret. With Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, fuck Eret. It’s a very big place, not blown up L’manberg. My L’manberg, my L’manberg, my L’manberg, my L’manberg.” Their voices die down as the final lyrics are sung and with that, L’manberg is now gone. An unfinished symphony, forever unfinished.
