RescueNauts V1.1 - Leaderboards and improvements.

Wow, featured game. We truly never expected to get any attention off the back of this build of the game, but we’re amazingly greatful to see that people seem to be enjoying the game.

We’d always intended for leaderboards to be integrated in the near future, but when the feature on the front page surprised us yesterday we had to get them in ASAP.

So now you can see how you stack up against all the other players on GameJolt!

We’ve also worked on improving some of the areas that needed some extra work, the main ones are detailed below.

The deep end isn’t so deep.

Based on a few youtube videos and comments, people found the game hard to jump in to. This was mostly down to players not choosing the ‘how to play’ option. That’s totally not the fault of the player, and is the fault of us as the designers.
We’ve now made it so that new players are transitioned directly in the tutorial.

The tutorial itself has also been improved to offer all the vital information you need to get going.

Crosshairs and accuracy.

There is now a visiual cross-hair to make aiming easier. Aiming offsets have also been adjusted to be more accurate to the location of the crosshair on screen.

So, what are you waiting for? Think you can top the leaderboards?

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
