Results of the year (2021)

Happy New Year! I have a couple of plans for 2022, but I'll tell you more about them later, but for now let's take a look back at what I did this year and recap.

April Fool's Day Full of Surprises

Earlier this year, I had a few surprises in store for everyone for the first of April. I released several games and updates at once, most of which were humorous. Now I'll tell you what was released on this big day and at what time (time is given in Moscow).

A special night was available in Five Nights with Froggy 2 on the first of April, in which the hell was going on. A post suggesting a visit to the game was released at 8:00.

At 10:00, a post was released suggesting a visit to the Mystery Chamber 2015 Deluxe. In the game, however, something was going on. The level was being broken up and colored in different ways.

Then a mock version of Five Nights with Froggy, numbered 4.0, was released at 12:00, where it was just that when the game started up.

And the further it went, the more interesting it became. Each successive news item was more interesting than the previous one!

At 14:00 an improved edition of the Red Ball game was released, namely Red Ball Saga Deluxe. In this game, you could now play as Gold ball, which was made entirely of solid gold. The gold ball was extremely resistant to danger, but the catch was that it was very heavy, making it difficult to control. It seems that only one level was passable with the Golden ball.

At 16:00, despite the fact that the game was an Android exclusive, the PC version of Mystery Chamber 2015 Deluxe was released. At first, the game went fine, but after the player walked through the door leading to the archive, he found himself... in the dream world of Froggold II. Perhaps many of those who had a chance to pass the old version of FNwFroggy 3 remember this level from that game.

And now on to the highlights of the day.

The jokes are over.

At 18:00, update 3.1 for Froggy vs. Mother-in-Law 2 was epically released. New bosses were added, and some changes were made.

What was at the end of the day? At 19:47 a mysterious premiere was announced, to take place at 20:00.

image.png

The premiere itself was quite an exciting moment for me, because what would be shown on it was being developed in strict secrecy, and the development was still going on since December 2019. Only a few of the few knew about it. So what was shown at the premiere?

At 20:00, the premiere began. No one was expecting it, but the new FNwFroggy trailer began to be shown. At first almost no one seemed to believe that it was serious, but it was no longer a joke. In the end, everyone was shown a completely updated and improved game. This was the fourth global update for FNwFroggy. So why was it released? So why did I decide to update this game again? I'll talk more about it again below.

What surprised me the most was the reaction of the people in this video, specifically from 2:13 onward.

More about the fourth reissue of FNwFroggy

Back in 2019, I thought about the fact that the first part of FNwFroggy was far from being in the best condition, and it needed to be patched up. That's when I decided to do the same thing I did with the second part, which was to make the game completely from scratch. At the end of 2019, I started slowly developing version 4.0. I took on Rashid Ibadov (@RatNRat ) and Anton Doroshev (@Kry ) to help me with ideas. I had to think about how I could improve the game, and especially its gameplay. Along with this, I slowly developed the game itself. I started with the opening scene, menus and the hut. In the gameplay itself, I only had time to make matches and a phone.

After a few days of work I somehow deflated and put the idea aside, but I already had a partial idea of the new version.

WE NEED INNOVATION IN THE FNWF

I went back to work in December 2020. It was decided to release the game on the first of April. Once upon a time there was already a joke about version 4.0 in the FKoKFII group, but at the time I could not have imagined that I would actually have to develop it. As a result I decided to release it on the same date, i.e. April 1st. As you know, I don't make deadlines, but this time, I figured in my head that it was pretty safe, and I was right. I managed to finish and get the game to pre-release sometime in the middle of March, which was just about the time I had left for testing. Thanks to Rashid and Anton, the game was released with a minimum of bugs, and they were involved in testing the game as well, for which I thank them very much.

And after all, as you already know, the game was released on the first of April right after its premiere.

Since then, the first two parts of the FNwFroggy series have been considered completely finished and we could start the third part, but I wanted to work on something else first.

Froggy vs. Mother-in-law 2 mobile port?

image.png

As you know, I failed to port Froggy vs. Mother-in-law 2 to mobile devices. The arena in the game simply could not start, and the game would close with an error. It seemed like nothing could cause an error. There were several attempts to make some changes that seemed to be able to fix the game crash, but nothing helped at all.

In the spring of 2021, I decided to find out what was causing the error, so I contacted Clickteam (the developers of the software with which FvM 2 was developed). I won't describe exactly what was wrong, but they were able to help me with the problem nonetheless. The bug was weird, but a patch was released for the software that fixed it. From now on, the arena in the game was running!

I was happy about this outcome, and I decided to secretly start working on adapting the game for mobile devices. In the process, I even managed to make a few changes to the game.

You can see some of the results in these videos:

It doesn't seem so bad, does it? It really could have been a success, but I had to put it off. The game had quite a mess of code, and I decided to clean it up while also optimizing the game, but the more I cleaned it up, the more I saw that it was going to take a long time, and the work was quite tedious as well. There was even a moment when I was torn between deciding to keep working on the code and just redoing the game.

Still, I couldn't afford to remake this game, the fact is that I have a big idea that makes no sense to remake FvM 2. I ended up having to postpone the port, for which I apologize.

What's more unfortunate, I just forgot to make a copy of the original game project before doing the porting experiments, so I can no longer update version 3.1.x as it is now a different version, which is what the experiments were done with, but the game is broken and is no longer playable. Of course, I can recreate version 3.1 from version 3.0.18, but I'm not up to it yet. Therefore, there will be no updates or even patches for FvM 2 in the near future.

Big event on the GKProduction Community

image.png

On June 13, the GKProduction community server in Discord launched a major event, "Rescue the Active. Season 3" "Rescue the Active. Season 2.5".

Provoked him to start boost fever (Epic Games gave away free to users Nitro for Discord, along with which were the so-called "boosts", with which you can improve the server capabilities of the community).

The event was a gaming competition, where there was even a cash prize. Participants had to perform daily tasks related to GKProduction games. For the best performance were awarded points, the number of which determined the place in the ranking of participants.

The event lasted a month, and all the participants had a good time. It really was a great event.

Interview with DimaJazDD

In August, Artem (@_tam_ ) and I were invited by reviewer DimaJazDD for a short interview (Q&A). The interview was included in a video with a breakdown of the first two games of the FNwFroggy series.

The summer of silence, and the Mystery Chamber 2015 is now forever

After failing with FvM 2, despite the survey results, I decided to try and start developing update 1.2 for MC 2015 Deluxe. At first the work was slow, but the speed quickly began to pick up. In the process, I came up with more and more ideas. The most key ones turned out to be:

  • Soundtrack;

  • Level editor;

  • Releasing the game on PC and Steam.

This time Vladimir Nagorny and Rashid Ibadov were involved in the development. Vladimir, or @VNG , was hired for the soundtrack, and Rashid, as always, for ideas.

Almost all summer the work went on little by little. A lot of things were invented, some of them were realized, and half of the new game's soundtrack was composed. The whole summer we kept quiet and did not talk about what we were doing. Unfortunately or fortunately, almost everyone was sure that we were working on FNwFroggy 3. But inspiration is inspiration, at the time I had the desire to work on MC 2015 Deluxe 1.2, which was then changed to 2.0, and then the game itself got a new name, so many changes were made.

The graphics were redrawn, many new items, blocks, objects, weapons, and enemies were added. I was more and more eager to finally announce the game.

In September I finally managed to do it. On September 23rd the premiere was announced. The preview showed the blue silhouette of the weapon "???" (now called "Something") from MC 2015.

The premiere took place on September 24 at 8:00 p.m. Moscow time. This premiere, like the first of April, was exciting for me. The premiere showed the trailer of the small update for the original MC 2015, where the soundtrack was replaced with the soundtrack from VNGames, and, most importantly, the reveal trailer of MC 2015 Forever, where the main innovations and changes were shown.

I won't be able to release the game itself until 2022. By the way, don't forget to add game to your wishlist if you want to buy it.

A couple of days later, I released a short message to the FKoKFII community. You can read it if you're interested.

For some reason I don't want to mark this experiment in the totals, so here's a link to the post, and move on.

That's all.

There's nowhere else to go. That's all I've managed to do this year. I'll tell you about my future plans for the year later, but all I have to do is wish you a Happy New Year again!

Thank you for staying with me and playing my games.
