RINSED - Devlog #7 - Design your own NPC!

Hello there!

Its been a while since the last full lengh devlog! Next weekend we are planning the second closed pre alpha test phase with our friends so currently we are working on a lot of stuff simultaneously. So lets get started with this weeks devlog!

First of all something fun for you all!

Im working heavily on finishing up the map and currently a lot of work is going into the "big" city in the northern part of the map. Due to that a lot of npcs where added and a lot of npcs need a lot of names...

So here is somewhat of a little Contest! If you want to get immortalized as a npc in the game, write the following under this post:

  • Your cool phantasy name (or your real name) (has to be fitting in the game so nothing like Dragonslayer420 please)

  • Your Hair color (you can choose between black, blonde and red)

  • Your Skin color (dark, medium, light)

We will pick a winner within the next week! :D

Now for some actual development:

Finn started to overwork our whole save system. We are switching over to json files which will make saving and loading progress and having multiple characters much more easy.

In Addition to that, stats for clothing will finally make its way into the game! From there on clothes will not only look fancy, they will also impact how fast your character will get cold and wet.

As already mentioned, I currently overwork large areas of the map such as the swamplands and the highland forest. Furthermore I overworked the whole character creation screen!

(Please note that the ui is still somewhat of a placeholder)

Finn also added a brand new menu screen which will host creating and loading characters and more. The menu is still in an very early state but we wanted to share it with you nonetheless!

Everytime you start the game, a random scenery will we picked to great you so no menu will exactly look the same.

Even though we could share more and more little improvements and details with you, this is it for this weeks devlog.

We hope you are all well and stay healthy.

See you in the next devlog and thanks for reading!

-Felix

Painted some new headers for our crafting system! Survival, Cooking, Crafting... Can you guess what image is for what category? :D

As the glow stone cave was flooded and then isolated from the outside world for a few hundred years, it developed its own unique and oddly strange flora and fauna!

Soon you will be a part of it.

Super secret update friday!

Zombies are now a bit... Lets say "more motivated" in the darkness of the night!

Made new Flowerpots with different variants for further decorating cities and villages! :)

Finally happy with the "indoors" part of the game! Adding a small, closed off area to the open world of the forest was challeging but worth it. Lots of enviromental story telling in this one! :)

Just a little clip of me building a frighter ship! MONONAUTS is a little demo experiment which I made within a few days. Try it out and tell me what you think! :)

Just uploaded a little prototype I made within just a few days for fun! Maybe someone will have some fun with it :)

You can built a little big ship and navigate through astroids. Thats it!

Those zip-lines were once used to transport goods from the mountains into the villages below but now they make a great (and fun) shortcut for all adventurers!

Its almost been a year since I developed "9:16" and im still proud of what I achieved! I tried to push the visuals to be as photorealistic as possible and keep the gameplay as immersive as I could. Give it a try and tell me what you think :)
