Hello,
I’ve recently talked about what was being added into the game. Sandbox Play has been updated to version 0.5.0 and with it come better graphics and physics.
The most important thing that got added with this release is a physics quality option. This directly affects how many chunks each block spawns upon breaking which in return gives you more performance with the cost of chunks being created. In theory, you can make the game run roughly 5x faster when going from the highest to the lowest quality option.
Comparing the two following images you can see the difference in chunks being spawned when a house explodes:
The game also got a new terrain created with Blender. The old flat terrain will be re-implemented in a future update for players who like to build without terrain obstacles. I’ve also taken the time to add three of Unity’s effects: motion blur, antialiasing and ambient occlusion. Only antialiasing should be used on low end computers as the other two are very intensive to render.
I’ve also started planning more into the future of this project and what has to be implemented at some point.
Here is the current list of what needs to be added sorted by priority:
-Terrain selection
-Physics precision
-Texture packs
-Realtime physics while editing
-Multiplayer
If anyone has any ideas for improvements I would really love to hear them.
