TL;DR: I released an unfinished version of Keys to Eclipse and will probably update it over time until it's complete, but I'm taking a break from this project to work on some other stuff.
This is NOT the finished product. There's quite a bit of missing content, and a lot of the early stages lack final polish. I'm releasing this unfinished build because I'm honestly very fucking sick of working on this game.
Development was actually going pretty well last summer, but I had misjudged how much work I had left to do on the project. I gave out a release date that I wasn't confident in because I desperately wanted to be done with this game so I could move on to other projects. I've lost my motivation to work on the game over the last few months, and I really just want to take a break from it.
This project was probably always going to end with me releasing an unfinished build. I simply tried to do way too much with this game, and so it became incredibly difficult to manage. I probably should have cancelled this back in 2022, because even back then I knew that this was just too much.
However, *most* of the game is complete. All of the stages are playable, the only stuff left to finish are the cutscenes, NPC dialogue, boss fights, and the "Ramster Care 3000" minigame. I doubt implementing the remaining features would really change how people perceive the game. There is a Level Select accessible from the start in the "Gallery" menu, so you can try out all of the different stages I made.
I will likely continue to update Keys to Eclipse over time to fix bugs and to finish the rest of what I had planned. Hopefully, I can reach a point where I can actually say the game is 100% done. Until then, this game's status will be kept under "Early Access". I'm really sorry about how this turned out, but I am just very exhausted from trying to work on this, and I want to step away from it for a bit so I can clear my head. I don't care how this current build is received, I just want to put something out there so I can tell myself that I am done with this for the moment.
Also, there most likely won't be a macOS port like I originally intended. I unfortunately couldn't get it to work properly.
This was not worth it :(
