What happened.


Not much to say aside from more work is on the projects.

Though if there's one thing that's bothering me, it's ZDSFLP. Not too sure if I wanna pull the plug on it because... well... I don't think it's particularly good enough and I'm not sure if I have the energy to finish this by all possible means.

I hate cancelling projects because I love doing them, but I don't like having promises that I can't fulfill. I don't like making projects so I can say later on that it's cancelled. If I wanna make it, I gotta finish it, because nobody else is going to do what I want. It isn't to say that a game about Zane is worse than a game about a bunch of characters that isn't original, it's just that I just don't even have the time to make it anymore and I don't think the plot's good enough to justify at least 4 main dungeons. I like designing for it but the problem is whether or not it's really good enough.

But let's talk about projects that aren't cancelled, which is JABE. I'm still thinking about how I would design the first dungeon. Because I want to scale the game's stakes just a bit back, I wanted to make sure that it was "Jonathan's Adventure" despite it being not a particularly grand adventure, because you don't really go out and fight a big bad government, but rather surviving in a social crisis that was started over various rumors in the town you're living in. For the first dungeon, it would be rather simple: an abandoned factory.

Why the factory over the bunker? Well, for one, I think the whole idea of "Sasara's home is a bunker, but it's ALSO A DUNGEON!" kinda stupid. Like, yeah, it's unique but why have a dungeon inside a bunker anyway? I mean, if you see Sasara as this eager fighter, explorer, or a woman with really odd interests, then I guess it could work? But an abandoned factory can work because it makes the world at least bigger than a bunker/dungeon hybrid, because why would there be a replica of the FNaTI Office inside the bunker with a fake Colin in it? If anything, the first dungeon needed better design ideas than some mish mash of ideas that has some connection to the other dungeons.
