Seb's Devlog #149: 9/22/2024

What happened?

So far, we got 2 new sprites frames for 'JA4' thanks to my overworld sprite artist. Baby steps, guys, baby steps. But I will note that I will show it when there's some actual gameplay footage and also promotional material made. I don't know when but it will come. Eventually...

Let's talk about JAR, because I'm taking a new spin for it. What is this new spin? Put it in RPG Maker MV of course. Now, this means that graphics have to be updated, but that's a painless thing for it since well... JA's maps are made with the default RPG Maker MV's tileset so this isn't really going to require a new updated tileset. What NEEDS a new tileset is for the extra dungeons, but I wouldn't wanna worry about graphics, because I'm worrying about gameplay.

Now, an idea for the game, and this is why it was transitioned from 2k3 to MV, was to make a party member who can wield lots of guns and this is exciting for me because gunplay in MV is something I wanna make. Another idea is to make shotgun attacks have a splash damage mechanic, where pellets can scatter towards other neighboring enemies, allowing a much interesting way to damage foes. Of course, I haven't worked on other types of guns, like LMGs, Sniper Rifles, PDWs, carbines, and such.

See you on the next devlog.

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.
