Seb's Devlog #170: 5/11/2025

What happened...

Hi guys, I'm back... And apparently 42 views in the previous devlog? That's strange... Also I managed to count the devlogs wrong so that should be fixed. This SHOULD be the proper 170th one. I don't really talk about views, but it's funny how December 1st had 54 views, then it went down to 18 views in the first Sunday for January, and finally went up to 42 views on the 9th of February?

Okay, let's talk about the break; yes, I took more than a month for the next devlog, but I was struggling with how I'm going to present this in the first place, since it bring me a lot of retrospective once I took the break. I'm not too sure how to say it for this place, but it was something more of a relevation that dawned on me and also I love playing Cobblemon. It's Pokemon with Minecraft, can you blame me for putting like 197 hours in it?

I honestly don't really have much to say other than "I'm still working on JA though..." and also "I got other projects that I'm lending my hand in." because why not? Also, I want to remake a really old animation from JA. I don't expect to play my hand on what it is, but it essentially would feel different from what the trailer is because this is something I was thinking when I had the flu from like several weeks ago, since I HATE being sick all the time, especially when I get the flu, it makes me extremely unproductive. It's more or less "go back to the roots, but give it a unique spin on it." Of course I'll going to be late for it but whatever, that's just how I am at this point so... Yeah hopefully I can find the people for it...

Other than that, I went back to rework on another project that isn't announced, but I like working on it since I intend it to be unique since I feel like the issue with most demos is that it's a one-and-done deal, like you play it, and then that's it, there's nothing more than that. So I thought "Why not make it so that the game has a lot of replay value despite being a demo that a majority of the content in it isn't even in the main game?" Which is funny and that's what I'm going with.

And it FUCKING WORKS like a drug compared to working on an update for the old JA demo. At least the assets for the demo can GO to somewhere, I'm just stuck with whatever crap I need to fix and update for the JA demo, meaning I have to test the damn thing over and over and they're not impressive as say the other stuff in the other JA projects I'm developing. I made a goddamn custom Game Over screen in RPG Maker 2003 and that's more impressive than adding another Password easter egg, isn't it?!

Yeah, I need to get myself to get some work DONE for the old JA demo, and I swear to Christ I don't get some stupid illness AGAIN just to work on it. But once I took a break, I thought of breaking a tradition for this devlog. Instead of every Sunday, I wanna make it so at least the majority of the devlogs are in a Sunday AND it doesn't take more than 4 Sundays to write "I made a Jonathan and Kabi dating simulator!". A Sunday will be the bare minimum so essentially we're gonna test the waters around here.

See you on the next 171st Devlog.

Hooray #FanArtFriday for Pokemon... It's late for me but whatever.

So anyway, here's an artwork I made before from like November 22nd, so... who's that Pokemon.

Here's a peaceful little forest scene for this #screenshotsaturday, from the beginning of the game.

Finished a project I've been working on over the last few days!
