What happened? For like 6 months ago and now?

Hi everybody, deja vu boy from "Jonathan's Adventure!: Classic" working on "Jonathan's Adventure: Bickery Edition."

Why is Classic abandoned?

The game was canceled again, but this time, permanently! I don't know why it had to be canceled the second time, and the weirdest thing is that it always happens when I make a dungeon. In September 2021, the game was canned and the game only had the bunker dungeon. Then it get canned again on December 2021 (Thanks for the Christmas gift, John.) and the second dungeon wasn't even finished yet. So now, there's Jonathan's Adventure: Bickery Edition.

Why not rework Classic without John?

There's several reasons:

  • John could've removed the game, I don't own the page of JAC and unfortunately, it will happen eventually, don't know when.

  • It felt like the game was too much of my thing and less of what John imagined, and we're going to bring up John eventually, just hold on, and making a game page for this game was necessary to do it.

Why was it a struggle to work for Jonathan's Adventure?

Ridiculously, for a game like this, it shouldn't be that hard enough, but if I had to argue why it was a struggle to make it, there would be two reasons.

1, we have no blueprint.

There was pretty much nothing of a plan on how to make Jonathan's Adventure, which meant that the whole game was essentially a dogpile of ideas we the dev team threw at. For example, there's an event in the builds where Jonathan would interact with Monaca from Danganronpa: Another Episode, which was Luigikaboy's idea. Another is the Club Penguin CD Player, which I jokingly said that it's how Jonathan plays Club Penguin, here's a fun fact, originally, I was going to implement the dance emote from the game, on the moment when Jonathan turns it on, but considering that sprites for it isn't publically available, I just made it spin. This made it pretty much hard to record exactly what was John's game supposed to be because for one thing, despite being the creator of JA, the game doesn't even feel like it's his game. The majority of JA is literally me doing the work. The map travel? That idea was mine. The whole location of the game? Mostly done by me. The easter eggs, nearly all of it is my idea. I literally have no idea of what John was imagining for JA, and for being the "creator" of JA, John hasn't done much versus to what I did in JA, and when you have no real plan on how to make a game with multiple people in it... you get:

2, Developers fighting each other for ideas.

Oh boy, hot water time. Frankly, there are ideas that had to be considered and removed. For example, using characters from other sources, like you would've gotten Clover from SharkyNatty, Taijin from PastelSatan/WinkingCheer, but it was all scrapped because it was more or less a secondary feature, and while John and Denis came to me with that same idea, being Evadere, there was one massive problem.

They were not nice about it (The Breaking Bad 2 GC is basically a dev chat GC with I, Denis, John, and Natty in it.).

It's funny when John's accusing me of being someone I can't be trusted, yet it's the same guy who's trying to force a character that isn't necessary for the whole game, and even then, Evadere, oh I'm sorry, Sakarau Unmei, wasn't really a character I wanna put in the game for the main party because the story wouldn't feel right having him in it (Except it would in the themes of the final game, but oh well.). Another idea was making Imasu Kazuo be the pervert in the party, mainly because I think it's a funny contrast to him. He's the seriousness of the rest, yet he's hiding catgirl porn. But Luigikaboy was like "IDEA DENIED." And it's one thing to deny an idea, but it's another thing to have no ideas and deny ideas, which was a massive problem. Because I loved the idea, the idea would be more interesting to think about, especially when you get to the moment where Imasu has to fight a cat girl prostitute, it's like he's fighting his own inner demons. But then again, what do I expect from the same guy who literally ripped off of Parappa the Rapper in his sona and expects it to be copyrighted? The whole entire cast can't even be copyrighted, Jonathan rips off Parappa, Sasara is a Rotom, Nintendo will sue, Imasu rips off Scorpion from Mortal Kombat, and Kabi is literally a Just Beats and Shapes fan character, this stuff isn't original to be copyrighted, and why should I ever rebrand the game to be "Parappa's Adventure" if the whole criticism is from John, a "game dev" who is from Argentina who didn't even make a single game where he can legally own the game's copyright, let alone be original in a game that's never meant to be original in the first place? Enough of this, what's in the game.

What has happened so far in the game?

There are two dungeons I'm working on. There's a city dungeon, almost complete, and there's a prison dungeon. Expect two, because you obviously see the Mickey Mouse Prison in the Overworld Map, but don't expect them to be similar. Why isn't the city dungeon completed? It's because, for one, I need to focus on the friendship mechanic. Now, what is the friendship mechanic? Ok, think of Persona 3's social links, but it doesn't have the exact purpose. In this game, friendship ultimately affects some skills and dialogue within the main story and events. Some skills get stronger than the other skills because these skills are based on how much that character hates or likes Jonathan, so if a skill uses the hatred of Jonathan, it gets stronger than a skill that uses the love of Jonathan or the skill that uses the mere tolerance of Jonathan's presence, if that party member hates Jonathan. So it's more like Shin Megami Tensei's Alignments, right? Well, no, because alignments HAVE PLOT RELEVANCE. So yeah, there's that. And the city dungeon is say around half complete, mainly because I haven't gotten to the final area of the dungeon and haven't added in the necessary friendship areas. Yup, there are going to be friendship areas in the game, but don't expect what are they exactly, aside from "This is where you grind your balls on friendship points!" Except maybe, because the thing is that how it works is that it uses one variable, and it can't go less than -15 or more than 15, and that applies to every party member besides Jonathan and you cannot use those areas if Jonathan isn't there in your party, because you're obviously not bonding with him.

So, anyway, see you next time.
