Senra+ Devlog 1

I have no idea how often I plan to do devlogs, but this one is 1 month or so after starting development on Senra+. So maybe monthly? Oddly enough I haven’t even wrote a singe line of code on this project since its takeover by my teammate - yet I’m the one writing a devlog for it… (He’s delibrately keeping it from me!)

Anyway, getting onto the actual updates. I’ll open with a few screenshots.

Battle Screen:

Don’t mind the box effect around the terrain, it’s due to the screen resolution being changed to 16:9. It’ll get a fix eventually. (or even replaced for something new… The water needs an update, too)

World Map:

Forest Redesign:

Particle Effects added to spells:

We’ve got a lot more changes under the hood. A lot of code had to be rewritten due to just being messy - I originally coded Senra for a biweekly game jam afterall. We’ve got an inventory coming and we’re also rethinking a new way for the battle engine to work. The lists of spells just feel plain and boring. We want to change that.

There’s a lot of detail that is missed due to the static form of an image. Perhaps I’ll include a video in my next devlog. :)

By the way… The music is beautiful.

Let me introduce you to the new Mech line: Gendai Spec. Those are Mech that specializes in surprise attacks, covered operations, and stealth. They are equipped with melee weapons but one of Gendai's frames supports sniper rifles.
