Hello :)
Last devlog, I mentioned how we were almost finished with Snowdin. That was true then and it still is now. While we were finishing it up, we were also working on assets for the next area and such. The reason we haven’t finished yet is issues with programming that have arisen.
Both of our programmers, MysteryRacer and Spasco, have been doing a great job bringing UTY to life but their code styles are very different. Because we have been using Racer’s well-built and more complicated engine, Spasco has had a harder time adapting to the style of code, slowing general progress down. Today, we made a compromise to go back to the demo engine for the overworld but keep Racer’s engine for the fights. These two facets of UTY were what the two were working on anyway, so it doesn’t change much. We will have to remake Snowdin in the other engine but Spasco already made it once and all of the assets he needs are done. So don’t worry, this won’t be like the post-demo engine switch. These things are unpredictable but this should be the most efficient way to create the game.
In other news, we are proud to announce that we are collaborating with a pioneer of UT fangames to bring a special NPC cameo to UTY.
That’s right! Sporting a new look by Fireburn, Taxiderby’s very own Red from Undertale Red will make an appearance in the game! There won’t be a fight, but you may learn some new lore about her life before UTR.
So that’s all for now. Game development has its ups and downs. Sometimes there’s trouble, but our team always perseveres. This latest roadblock was building for a while, so finally taking action is a great step toward the future. We hope you look forward to it.
