SFS 2 arriving soon + Development info

Hey guys!

As a quick heads up, you may be delighted or dismayed to here that the sequel to Shadow Freddy Simulator, Shadow Freddy Simulator 2: The Squeakquel, is done. The game has been completed and the Gamejolt page will be up and running soon. So here I want to talk about the procedures I used to make this and the upcoming second game.

*Step by step: The making of Shadow Freddy Simulator 1 &*** 2**

  1. The projec folder was made and resources were prepared and imported.

  2. All the info, class settings, items, skills, weapons and armours were modified for the game’s use.

  3. The first map and it’s events were created and sorted out.

  4. Several playtests took place while adding more events and modifying anything that doesn’t look right.

  5. Enemies and troops were created. Random encounters were set up across the maps and battlebacks were specified.

  6. A way of progressing through the game was thought up and incorperated into the game.

  7. Boss battles were set up to occur as the player progresses through the game. During this step, a story was created for the game. (I didn’t have everything planned out like some might have been assuming!)

  8. The story was then refined and patched up in order to tie in with past games as smoothly as possible, although loopholes may still remain. (Not just exclusive to the second game!)

  9. After a key point in the game, a “final area” is set up to be accessed only when the player has completed all key tasks preceeding it’s opening.

  10. The endgame segment was made and everything was capped off in the main game.

  11. The “final playtest” took place. The whole game was played through as if someone new to the series was playing it. During the playtest save files were made early and often before key events. If anything cropped up the playtest was paused and whatever went wrong was adjusted. After that, the playtest resumed as normal. Rinse and repeat until the end of the game.

  12. The game was put into a .zip file to be distributed on Gamejolt. Only now is the page set up as to avoid distraction and thinking the game was already done and dusted.

So now you know how I developed the first two games. Rest assured, the second game will be on Gamejolt soon and then we’ll see where the Shadow Freddy Simulator (SFS 3 for short) goes from there…
