Hello Everyone, I'm giving an update because it's been a while since my last activity.
I am working on writing the script for a video where I summarize and detail the many years of WITN's development from start to finish. I'm about 60% done with the initial draft, though I'm not working on it everyday. I plan to improve my production value so that the video can be higher quality than my current ones on my youtube channel. I don't know how long it will take to complete, so I can't give an ETA.
Aside from that I am in the very early stages of prototyping my next game. It will be fully 3d this time, and made in Unreal Engine 5. As far as software goes, I'm kind of a veteran with 3d modeling in Blender, but a novice with UE5 and 3d game engines in general, so I'll be learning a lot of things in this endeavor, and I'll try my best to avoid the pitfalls that come with the engine. I've already done some UE5 courses to get me adjusted to the engine's workflow.
I won't be doing regular updates until the early stages of prototyping are done, where I'll be able to really feel out how the gameplay should be and get feedback from people I know. After that, once the next game goes into more serious and intensive development, I should be posting regular devlogs.
To that point I've been thinking about streaming or otherwise posting video updates of game development once it gets there, but I'm not sure how to do that without spoiling aspects of the game that shouldn't be shown. I'm curious if there's a way to do that properly.
Lastly, I had said that I'd be trying to get my financial situation in order before doing anything else...but the 2026 Job Market has made it impossible for me to start my career in the field that I went to college for. I've spent about six months applying, getting ghosted and getting rejected, and the macroeconomic conditions that influence hiring doesn't seem to be getting any better. Right now I've had to get back into part-time work to have some kind of income. If it weren't for my family, I'd be homeless or dead right now.
Despite that I'm trying to remain as balanced as the situation allows.
