the player is in some sort of "dead" and "destroyed" world because looking outside the DOOR in the lobby the bridge is flying. I think the player came to the hotel to SEEK safety only to end up in the supernatural prison to be served as food to the monster within (all jumpscares you end up in the monsters' mouth except glitch) the guiding light is most likely the statue in the courtyard.
