So, you may be wondering where the next update is gonna be for WSJA, well, at the moment in the UK, it is summer time, and to be honest I don’t really want to waste my summer programming this game. But, at the start of September I’ll be coding the game to my fullest content.
Anyways, I also have a few ideas that may spark interest.
— Switching to Visual Novel / RPG Format
Now, a cool idea I’ve had for a while is having a Visual Novel type narrative with RPG-like gameplay. Meaning I would have less mapping to do and the story could be worked on more. I feel that this format is a pretty good format for most of the story. Of course, some dialogue will be displayed on the RPG screen as well.
— Using TyranoBuilder for some Episodes
If you don’t know, TyranoBuilder is a pretty good VN Maker, but I’m quite hesitant to switch to it due to lack of art and in general different interface.
— Re-creating the prologue in a more-better experience way.
I’ve been thinking about this for a WHILE now, and I don’t think the prologue gave a good impression on what the game actually is, especially the battle at the end which was a TOTALLY different style of gameplay to the Telltale games and CERTAINLY not what I was hoping.
— Quick Time Events
Quick time events are hated by the community but in some cases they can be done very well, I don’t know if this will translate well in to this game but I can certainly do it in this if you want to.
— GameJam Episode
I would LOVE to do an episode of WSJA in GameJam Format, its basically where you have to create a “game” in a specified period of time. It can give me feedback of what I can do and what I need to improve about the game. If this does happen then it will be the first Episode of Catilyn’s Story.
The estimated date for the first Episode of WSJA is Christmas but be warned, there may be something lurking before that.
