gamejolt seriously needs quality of life updates

i am a little bit tired of the only updates in a long while just being new quests and new items in the shop

we need things to make us actually happier in here

small things that can make a huge difference !!

the first update that i think could make people very happy is custom color themes

up to this date, we're only able to use a pre-set of two colors

but what if we don't like those colors or they just don't fit?

the solution would just to choose custom color right?

well no

custom color only allows us to choose ONE color

the second color in the theme will just be the same color but darkened

this is a place of creativity, and i believe letting people choose both colors could come up with some really cool custom themes that'll make the website feel more alive

just using presets is kind of boring, and custom color almost always looks unpleasant

this shouldn't be hard to make

its a small update that can make a bunch of people very pleased

an update on the current pronouns system could also be very useful

we're limited to only 3 types of pronouns

and i understand that if gamejolt allowed custom pronouns some people would probably just end up using it to joke around and just put things like "car/truck"

but just because some people would mess around with it, doesn't mean that other people wouldn't enjoy being able to actually put their own pronouns in here

i don't use the pronouns feature for my own choice, and this little update isn't really that needed, but it would be appreciated if you could be a little bit more open minded when it comes to our pronouns since that can sometimes be a sensitive topic to some people

this one isn't an update, but a glitch that has been bugging MANY of us for a while

the "[User] is typing..." text that appears at the bottom of the screen is extremely useful in my opinion

so you can know when somebody is typing and you can wait for them to finish instead of both sending a message at the same time

but this feature glitches a LOT

most of the time i don't even trust it anymore because because it's just always showing that the person is typing

i don't understant how this glitch occurs, but it cant show that the person is typing even if they're offline

this glitch makes us think they're typing, but they're not

and so you just wait and wait until you realize it's actually bugged and they haven't typed a single digit yet

i feel like communities are extremely strict when it comes to customization to make them stand out

but i believe the worst thing yet is how we cannot disable the channel names

as an example i took an image from a community made by @RedKatze

they made a name for their channels to appear in the backround

but most of them are just getting overshadowed by the name that we're forced to have on top

it would make this community much more original and cooler if we could read the name of the channel througn a different and pretty font in the channel's banner instead of the regular name we're forced to put even if the bg already has a name that looks more creative

a thing that REALLY makes people upset sometimes is how much the block feature is useless

if i blocked someone, then i DON'T want to see them because they make me uncomfortable

but instead of just making that person disappear entirely

i can still see their posts if they're in the same community as me, and i can still see their comments in posts

this can actually make people upset and stressed if they don't want to remember certain things they went through with that person

and the fact blocking someone only stops them from interacting with you, not actually making them disappear, can lead to people being depressed from not being able to forget something that happened or just making the person quit the website entirely to not see the person anymore

the block feature is THE MOST NEEDED update yet

if we block someone, we don't want to see them

its not just not wanting to interact with them

one more quick thing

being able to disable follows would be quite useful

there's some accounts here that just dont want to get followed and only use the website to talk with their friends

this can stop a few arguments that people followed accounts that dont want followers

there are other things i'd like to ask

but this is the main stuff we currently need

please listen to us just this once gamejolt

i know you can do all of this, its just small quality of life updates

that's all i want to live happily in this website again
