So, how's development going so far?

Hello again, just wanted to share my experience on the development of this game so far, so get ready for a long post.

If you're a solo game developer like me, there's a chance this post might help you out... or maybe not idk

Organizing myself

After actually making a script for the entire game a few months back, development has been going super smooth. I divided the entire game on 4 parts, set a deadline for each part, and so far everything has been going well.

I have no idea why I've been so hesitant on making a script. I really thought I had the whole game in my head, which to be honest, I kinda do, BUT making a script has helped me guide myself and remember certain small details about the hidden lore and the main story itself.

After all, this game has a bunch of secrets, so I must be very, very, very cautious and not mess anything up like certain names, images and other stuff.

Trying to advertise the game

Everything I've been showing publicly about the game is actually stuff from Part 2, which is what I've been advertising as the main gameplay. So basically what you should expect from the game, but as I've said multiple times, this game is way more than it seems, and that's a good thing and a bad thing.

On one side, if someone actually buys the game, they'll be able to have the experience of playing it and seeing all the cool stuff with no spoilers (probably).

On the other side, I have to try and not ruin the game for potential players and say as little as possible, but try to tease the cool stuff a little bit.

But from what I've learned so far, I've come to the realization that... (this is gonna blow your mind) people who follow my social media accounts are not the only potential players and probably half of them won't even buy the game! 🤯

When I released the Endfall DEMO, I really thought that because I had around 200 followers, all my 200 followers would play it, and that's not the truth. Most of the people who played it actually came from YouTube and other social medias I didn't even knew existed.

So basically I'm going to just pray to God that word of mouth and YouTube videos help out this game while also not trying to hide 70% of the game from my followers 😭.

At the end of the day, you can't really predict what would happen with such an experimental game like this one, making something like this game is a risk by itself but I'm willing to take that risk.

Is this a furry game?

One of the many comments that I've seen so far is that many people deem this game as a "Furry Game", which I guess makes sense since the main character is an anthropomorphic rabbit, but I kind of fear that some people will miss out on the game just because of that.

So, I just wanted to say right off the bat, this is literally just a design choice. Whether it ends up attracting furries or not is not up to me, I know the game I'm making and I know what I'm doing.

I don't know, I just felt like I needed to address that.

Dealing with pressure

And finally, the pressure. I know that Endfall is the game everyone's keeping their eyes on, so I feel like The Bunny Graveyard is basically my debut game, and the one that will show people if I'm a good game developer or not.

So I need to do my best to make it look as stunning as possible while having a small resolution but also not release a buggy mess, because it would end up hurting my reputation as a future game developer.

And because this is my debut game, I need to remember that this game is not meant to be as long and meaty as Endfall, so I need to put as much effort as possible while also avoiding scope creep.

So yeah, there's a lot of things I need to do right, and there's a lot of pressure and certain standards to be met, but the more time I spend developing this game, the more faith I start to have in it.

I really think I have a lot of cool ideas in my hands and I must do my absolute best to make them real. Even if I have to do them myself.

That's about it for my experience so far, thank you for reading and have a nice day :)

If you read this all the way through please comment Ken is a furry bastard that would be funny I think lol
