Weird Dream
Anna had a recurring dream that haunted her every night. She dreamed of a girl in the forest, wearing a white dress and a red hood. The girl seemed familiar, but Anna could not remember where she had seen her before. She felt a strange connection to the girl, as if they shared a secret bond.
One night, Anna decided to follow the girl in the forest. She ran after her, calling out to her, but the girl did not respond. She seemed to be leading Anna deeper and deeper into the woods, where the trees grew thicker and the shadows darker. Anna felt a chill in the air, and a sense of dread in her heart.
She finally caught up with the girl, and reached out to touch her shoulder. But as soon as she did, the girl vanished into thin air, leaving behind only a trail of red petals. Anna gasped, and realized that the girl was not wearing a hood, but a cloak made of roses. She looked around, and saw that the forest was full of them. Roses of every color and shape, blooming and wilting, alive and dead.
Anna felt a sharp pain in her chest, and woke up with a scream. She clutched her heart, and felt something wet on her fingers. She looked down, and saw blood. She had a wound on her chest, in the shape of a rose. She realized that the girl in the forest was not a dream, but a curse. A curse that was slowly killing her, one petal at a time. Anna tried telling her mom about the curse, but she didn't believe her. She thought Anna was making up stories, or having nightmares, or suffering from stress. She took her to a doctor, who prescribed her some pills and advised her to get more sleep. But the pills didn't help, and the sleep only brought more pain.
Anna felt alone and hopeless. She wished her mom would listen to her, and trust her. She wished someone would understand her, and help her. She wished the girl in the forest would leave her alone, and let her live .Anna decided to try not to sleep, so that she wouldn't be affected by the curse. She drank coffee, played games, watched movies, anything to keep herself awake. She hoped that by avoiding the dream, she could avoid the pain.
But she soon realized that it was impossible. She couldn't stay awake forever. She felt tired, exhausted. She started to hallucinate, to see things that weren't there. She saw the girl in the forest everywhere, in the mirror, in the window, in the corner of her eye. She heard her voice, whispering in her ear, calling her name.
She knew that the girl was not real, but she couldn't escape her. She knew that the curse was not a dream, but a reality. She knew that she had to face it, sooner or later. She knew that she had to go back to the forest, one last time. Anna fell asleep playing video games on the sofa. She was back in the dream when she saw the girl. She called out to her and begged her to stop hurting. The girl in the forest turned around and looked at Anna. She had a sad smile on her face, and tears in her eyes. She said, "I'm sorry, Anna. I don't want to hurt you. But I have to. It's the only way to break the curse."
Anna was confused and scared. She asked, "What curse? What are you talking about? Who are you?"
The girl said, "I'm you, Anna. Or at least, I was. I'm the part of you that you forgot. The part of you that you left behind. The part of you that loved the forest, and the roses, and the magic."
Anna tried to remember, but she couldn't. She felt a gap in her memory, a hole in her heart. She said, "I don't understand. What do you mean? How did this happen?"
The girl said, "It happened a long time ago, when we were little. We used to play in the forest, and make friends with the animals, the fairies, and the spirits. We used to wear a rose cloak, and call ourselves Red. We used to be happy, free, and wild."
Anna felt a faint spark of recognition, a flash of nostalgia. She said, "I remember. I remember Red. I remember the forest. But what happened? Why did I forget?"
The girl said, "You forgot because you grew up. You forgot because you changed. You forgot because you wanted to fit in, to be normal, to be accepted. You forgot because you were afraid of being different, of being weird, of being yourself."
Anna felt a pang of guilt, a surge of anger. She said, "That's not true. That's not fair. I didn't forget. I didn't change. I didn't choose. It was them. They made me forget. They made me change. They made me choose."
The girl said, "Who are they, Anna? Who made you forget? Who made you change? Who made you choose?"
Anna said, "They are... they are... I don't know. I can't remember. I can't think. It hurts. It hurts so much."
The girl said, "It hurts because you are fighting it. It hurts because you are resisting it. It hurts because you are denying it. But you can't fight it, Anna. You can't resist it, Anna. You can't deny it, Anna. You have to accept it, Anna. You have to embrace it, Anna. You have to remember it, Anna."
Anna said, "Remember what? Remember what?"
The girl said, "Remember who you are, Anna. Remember who you are."
She reached out her hand, and offered Anna a rose. A rose that was red, and white, and black. A rose that was alive, and dead, and reborn. A rose that was a symbol, a gift, and a curse.
She said, "Take it, Anna. Take the rose. Take the curse. Take yourself."
Anna looked at the rose, and felt a mix of fear, curiosity, and longing. She looked at the girl, and felt a mix of hate, and love, and understanding. She looked at herself, and felt a mix of pain, and joy, and awakening.
She reached out her hand, and took the rose. She took the curse. She took herself.
She said, "I remember. I remember who I am."
She said, "I am Red."
Anna woke up the rose in her hand sill she put it in her hair and
Smiled She said "I am Red"
