Game
Deltarune Explorers Of Sky: Battle Against Primal Dialga
5 months ago

So it’s been around a week now since we finally finished this project, so thanks to all of you who have played and enjoyed it so far!!

I'd like to give you all fun facts about the development of this project, so make sure to read down below.

Fun Fact 1:

Why did I choose Piplup and Riolu as the heroes?

Well on my very first ever playthrough of Pokemon Explorers Of Sky way back in the day, those were the characters I chose and so they are both very nostalgic to me, leading to the reason why I chose them.

I literally looked up what were the right choices that led to Piplup just so I could get Piplup lol as it was one of my favorite pokemon starters at the time.

-

Fun Fact 2:

I literally replayed through the entire game before we started working on this just so I had a fresh view on what I needed to write and prepare.

-

Fun Fact 3:

This takes place after Deltarune Chapter 1, not 2.

We originally planned to have the post chapter 2 stats as their base stats so it would canonically take place after ch 2 but Kaldigi forgot to listen to when I said to do that and used the chapter 1 stats instead and I was too lazy to remind him so yeah Chapter 1 lol!

-

Fun Fact 4:

Every act/Dialga pre attack move besides 3 are not real pokemon moves.

Those being:

Beam Barrier | Dialga move

(Wanted to have the battle box corners be deadly, so I made this move up to do so.)

Check | Kris move

(Obviously, lol!)

Aura Heal | Riolu move

(For this one, it just sounded cool, lol!)

-

Fun Fact 5:

This was originally never going to be a game and only an animation but Kaldigi talked me into it because since the animation was already being worked on in gms it would of actually been way harder to just script an automatic fight and way easier if it was player controlled. So you can all thank Kal for that, lol!

-

Final Fun Fact:

Piplup was originally going to have their dimensional scream as a move instead of swagger, but due to how complicated the idea of how it would have worked was, it was scrapped and replaced with swagger.

8 days without a spoiler, huh?

Here, take a wip animation of the pre fight dialog section as well as an early wip sample of the new phase 1 theme, which is a cover of Aider's Double-Edge Blade take. Cover being made by a composer by the name of Jaweazy.

Here's the new Sans sprite for the post chara fight cutscene. I'll show a battle screen mockup of this here soon, too.

Also, btw, I found a composer for the phase 1 themes for Chara.

Here's a new room spoil for you all!

I've been very busy with work the past few days, so I haven't really gotten much done since the last post, but I'm about 70% done with the spriting and writing.

Frisk

Yep it's really happening!

Spoiler 1

he secretly thinks it's cute

Spoiler 3:

Phase 1 and 2 battle sprites done!

I'm about 50% done with everything sprite and writing wise. Coding will most definitely either start either later this week or sometime next week.

Finished Chara's portrait!

Making tons of progress. Even started working on the reworked dialog, too.

#Undertale10 I never played Undertale besides the Demo of it (and only played a little bit of chapter I of Deltarune).

But it was so everywhere online that I ended up learning about most of it from gameplay videos and even ended up watching fan-animations

Happy 10th Anniversary Undertale!!!!

Didn't really have much time to do anything due to working on other things, but here's a little something I made quickly for it.

(Yes, I know the anniversary is tomorrow. But the newsletter was today, so why not.)
