So, looking back on my post yesterday, I realized that I might just get the announcement out of the way so that you guys don't have to keep waiting. Here's an explanation.


Before I start explaining, I want to say real quick: THIS IS NOT A DRAMA POST AT ALL. DO NOT ATTACK ANYONE I MENTION IN THIS POST. PLEASE. NOBODY IS GUILTY HERE. I AM ONLY PROVIDING AN EXPLANATION ON THINGS.

First of all, thank you for your support, and for your patience despite how… Unreasonably long this wait has been. I really am sorry I left you all in the dark for this long. So, let's just get into the explanation.

The truth is, by the time this game reached 65% completion, my dev team began to get busier with other things. Some had their own games to work on, and others were busy with life in general, and not many people had a lot of time to contribute to the project. This left me at a bit of a standstill with the game, as I was the one testing things, making ideas, and looking for bugs 85% of the time. A few weeks after the graphical update announcement, I decided to put the game on hold to focus on the Five Nights at Dark Pit’s graphics update, which I somewhat turned into Reascended.

During this hiatus, I started to slowly lose passion for Meta Knightmares, as I realized that a lot of the stuff here was not that good for my standards. And for a while, I just kinda left it as it was. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to just finish the game despite its flaws and potentially disappoint so many people, or cancel it entirely. As the months went by, it seemed to me that the latter would unfortunately be its final fate.

That was, until a friend of mine, who I will not mention by name, came into the picture. They brought up the game during a private VC months ago and stated that they wanted to see it finished. That gave us an idea to revive the game, and remake it from the ground up into something better than the original would have been. Please thank them for that.

Now, I’m sure the big questions on your mind are “Why haven't you announced it properly yet? Why did you make that post yesterday?”. And I wouldn’t blame you for asking, but, I have an answer.

To put it simply, busy times and motivational issues got in the way again, especially with me. I will not go into full detail, but it made me feel quite upset because of the fear of never getting to finish this game at all. I felt like the revival plan we had would fall apart, and that maybe reviving this game wasn't worth it to begin with.

I made that post yesterday to explain that I was gonna work on the game again at some point, but now was not the time, and this was why I wasn't in the mood to work on it. I took some time to reflect and talk with some friends about it, and they thankfully helped me feel better.

As for why I haven't announced the revival/reboot properly yet, well, I didn't really think to do it until I had an announcement poster ready. And after what happened, I needed time to think, and to refresh myself before getting back into it. Truthfully, I haven't done much for the reboot recently because of motivation issues, and my dev team being busy with other stuff, so it's probably going to take a while.

So, in short, yes. Consider this the announcement. Meta Knightmares is back, and it is being almost completely remade from the ground up. However, I think I need some time before working on it again.

There is a good amount of changes that will be made here from the old version, but I will save those for when I am ready to properly announce them, maybe with a trailer to go along with it, but no promises.

The original version of the game will be scrapped and will not be released to the public. The old demos will not be taken down, however.

As for me, I am thankfully feeling better, so please do not worry about me. I just need time to think. I'm sorry that this is how I had to announce the reboot.
