So, it's been a while since I've given a single update and as it says in the title, I'm going to explain what happened to the project for those who still believe that it's going to go ahead.
If it's not too obvious, the project is permanently canceled. I'm not willing to continue working on it for reasons I will explain, but here's the short version: The project was too ambitious, my team handling was terrible, a lot of horrible things happened in the meantime and I lost the will to continue.
The project was supposed to be something different from what the FNaF community normally does, the idea was to simulate a SNES game, with a story, interesting characters and simple but addictive gameplay. However, I started to add a lot and I wanted to implement things beyond my capacity and the more things you add, the more complex the project becomes and the harder it is to tweak. Instead of trying to do simple but good, I went down the route of complex but horrible. The project wasn't fun, I tried to turn a game formula totally designed to annoy into something fun, and in the end it didn't work out. Unfortunately, I couldn't change the style, otherwise I'd lose the original concept. So maybe the project was already determined to go wrong from the start.
I hardly ever work in a team, I'm a very antisocial person and I hardly communicate. Putting someone like that in charge of a team is asking for chaos. I created a mini team because I didn't know how to make good quality sprites, let alone compose a song without bleeding the player's ear. So I called in some friends and the creator of Coffy's to help with the project, and I hate myself for wasting their talent on a dead project. I couldn't create deadlines because unfortunately I'm too nice and let them finish their parts whenever they want, which caused the project to drag on for a long time. It's not their fault, it's my fault for handling a team like a monkey. I sincerely apologize to everyone involved in the project.
In the middle of 2023, horrible things happened in my life that made me pull away from everything I'd been doing up to that point. I won't go into too much detail here, just know that it really brought me down. Because of this, I ended up distancing myself from the team and the community itself, because I think it's going to be for the best. I don't know what they're doing, but I wish them all the luck in the world (the composer of the project (Mute) now has a Spotify, if you can support him I'd really appreciate it).
Recently, my tastes have changed, and some things lose their fun or meaning over time. I've been following FNaF since 2014, and I've seen the series grow just as I have, nowadays, I don't follow FNaF, because for me, it has lost its essence and also because my tastes have changed. As time went by, I realized that the project was becoming pointless, and I was facing the reality of “Who's going to play this shit?”. I don't know why I thought a Flappy Bird campaign would be a good idea, this just puts people off playing, and as I said above, I couldn't change the gameplay. This only discouraged me to the point where I abandoned the project and basically disappeared without a sign.
I'm sorry to everyone for wasting your time with a dead project, and I'm sorry to everyone on the team who put blood and sweat into the project to make it the best it could be, unfortunately I'm the problem that killed the project. I don't know if I'll ever do a project again, as I'm very conflicted with myself, but if I ever do, I'll try to get everything ready before I make a page, so that people don't waste time.
Again, apologies to everyone, have a great day.
