welcome back to soup complains about hyper-specific things no one asked about-
I think this was my first Soupy Tips? But anyways, been a while since I made another Soupy Tips, but I'm back!
This time, it's about Undertale's battle system, more specifically, how awesome the UI looks. I mean, the textbox also functions as a battle board. That's so cool! But anyways, I really like the colors of the battle UI. The UI in general has a unique look to it, what with the orange buttons with the green background, and the white textbox and battle sprites.
Now, what if I were to turn everything into a single eye-bleeding color, like a bright red? I don't think it looks as cool( unless you're a Virtual Boy fan, I suppose). This is what I see from a lot of UT AUs, specifically Underfell takes and the like.
It's fine if you like this and don't make this post seem like I'm targeting you or anything, but I just think we can do better. So, what can we do? Well simple, just recolor the UI. The UI's color palette doesn't have to fit a certain AU's theme tbh. Here are some examples I picked!
Midnight
Sealife
Nerds
If your AU's battle UI absolutely MUST need a singular colored theme, at least make it look aesthetically pleasing, maybe something like these? Hue-shifting goes a long way! It brightens up any dull art.
And that's it for the tips! I hope someone found this helpful ^^
If you're interested in the custom battle buttons used in my examples, I made them and you can get them here!
