Honestly, I’m irritated after the movie, it just wasn’t what I expected. I approached this film exactly the same way I did the first one: I saw critics’ and fans’ opinions, had no idea what to think, and in the end I really liked the first movie, but the second one not so much.
First of all, I think the biggest flaw here is the pacing, which is so slow that at times I actually felt bored. For about 80% of its runtime the film drags things out, only to pack everything exciting into the last 20%, where everything happens way too fast and leaves you wanting more, the ending included.
Secondly, in my opinion they just went way too far with the plot. It felt stretched and presented in an overly wild way. For me, FNAF and everything related to it never really went beyond the doors of the pizzeria, if you know what I mean.
On the positive side, just like in the first movie, the animatronics make a huge impression, watching them on screen is pure joy. The film is also full of great Easter eggs and references to the games, which made me smile uncontrollably and were definitely one of its strongest aspects. The post-credits scene also improved my final impression, it sets an optimistic tone and ramps up the hype to an uncontrollable level.
In summary:
FNAF 1 Movie - 8/10
FNAF 2 Movie - 5/10
