Okay, let me tell you guys about one of my own RPG games...
Star Story
Star Story is a turn-based RPG game, completely written in Lua using an engine I set up myself. Star Story is an RPG in a science fiction setting.
The game tells the story of Wendicka Lovejoy and Crystal McLeen. Two girls in their twenties who ambitiously take on the training to become agents for M.E.T.E.O.R. an interplanetairy space organisation. However, an accident which almost claimed Crystal's life, decided otherwise. An unknown individual secretly operates Crystal and she becomes a cyborg, and was returned to her bed. One year later the space station Excalibur where the two girls live, is under attack, and the girls have to flee only to end up on a strange planet. Is this attack related to the strange way Crystal became a cyborg?
World Setup
For the story of this game I decided to make a strong story line, but in the same time make a bit of a parody towards famous science fiction series, Star Trek and Star Wars in particular, but more references have been made. The game also shows a lot of situations in which parallels with the world the way it is today should be seen (in other words I made a few political statements, for those clever enough to see them), and I made a focus most of all on the characters' personal development.
GamePlay
The game is entirely controllable by mouse, features 3 difficulty settings. Easy, medium and hard. I must note that these do not merely give you easier and harder enemies. In Easy mode you have more inventory slots and in the hard mode less. In the hard mode it's harder to get experience points and many more changes take place. Easy is for the beginner, and the hard mode for the ones who seek impossible challenges, and the medium mode is for the rest of us. Combat takes place in a timed based battle interface, however unlike ATB, the time freezes when you are asked to enter a combat action, and will unfreeze as soon as you finished entering that. Each character has their own abilities and their own ways to learn them. Special abilities can be powered up.
