So, I said in my last update that I would talk about a playable demo, but first I want to talk about the story of the game. Now, when I say that I don't mean I'm going to spoil the game this early in development, I just want to give a little bit of info on how the story is structured and how the game progresses.
The game is divided into 10+ different chapters. Sometimes a character will be temporarily unplayable or going through a change during certain chapters.
Like many RPG games, sometimes you'll run into a background character that gives you a side quest; side quests do exist in BTP:BS, however if you complete a chapter before accomplishing certain side quests, they will become unavailable and you won't be granted any rewards from the characters.
The main quest/objective of the game is to liberate all cities across the homeland, but it's not going to be easy. The homeland is divided into four sections: The East Coast, The Great Islands, The Heartland, and The West Border. Each section of the homeland is blocked off by mountains or a body of water. Thankfully, the player can overcome these obstacles via helicopter or a boat, but how they obtain these vehicles is for them to find out on their own.
Now I'm going to talk about the demo. Me and my partner have decided that it should be either 1 or 2 chapters only. We want the demo to be a good length, and make sure it's as bug free as possible. Currently, we are aiming for the demo to last at least 20-30 minutes long, compared to the normal game, which will be approximately 6-10 hours long.
Still, the game is in early development and I'm not sure when the demo will be released, but stay tuned for upcoming updates, screenshots and videos that will be posted soon here on the Gamejolt page.
