Hello everyone! I'm here to of course, announce the release date for the next update to Sunrise, v2026.4.2, and the official release of Sunrise on Steam's release date.
First of all, Sunrise will be available on Steam:
March 6 (at 8PM MST)...
...as a free download. Alongside that, the game's original and high quality soundtrack will be made available as a paid option at a much later date, if you want to listen to the game's tunes in the crispiest quality available (do note, music created and featured by guest musicians will not be featured, the soundtrack is strictly for songs originally created for Sunrise).
Now, let's talk about this update, huh?
v2026.4.2, the next update. Development on this one was a bit rocky as we got caught up on other side-projects or personal things, so despite the "monthly" updates we promised back in January, this one is releasing in March. This update, originally being pretty minor and adding a few features, has been scaled up to add quite a bit to the table.
We're talking brand new sprite-work, features in the Options menu that are now available, guest musician tracks, tons of optimizations, the works. Heck, you can DIE in-game now! Isn't that neat?
The Game Over Screen (the only thing I really have to talk about)
The newly added Game Over screen, featuring a track for Sunrise by lovely guest musician, Xawo_X1, appears when you die now! Currently, the only to die is falling out of bounds in a level (a.k.a., to the very bottom), and an option has been added for the Sunrise Editor to either skip the Game Over screen and head straight back to the Editor or let it play out in the Editor's playtesting mode.
Here's an in-game screenshot of what it looks like currently:

Dash isn't animated yet, that's coming later (as in, the artist had a nap -- hold out, artist!).
So, that's about it, Sunrise v2026.4.2, otherwise known as the next major update, releases March 6 at 8PM MST and is releasing on Steam for free on the same day. Mark your calendars and wishlist the game, so you know when it's available.
Thank you, and, I'll leave you with this:
