Hey everyone, Hexelectron here, I'll be showcasing some new progress updates to Super Cat Wars, especially on tilesets and maps. Some of these are a recap of past progress updates I made from 2020, an era where SCW didn't even have a GameJolt devlog yet!
For those who are awaiting a devlog update, fear not! I'm still busy working on SCW, so rest assured that the mod hasn't been abandoned!
TILESETS - THE WORLD OF COLORS, THEMES, AND SHAPES
They say there's no beauty in the world of the Neutroverse without color. Maybe why not spice it up with loads of colors, paint jobs for various tiles, and so much more? That's when the unlimited tileset count feature in Super Mario War is used to an advantage - to create loads of color alts for some tilesets to help spice up the players' creativity.
New tileset color packs are included for ground tiles, rock tiles, even wood, blocks, crates, and PIPES! Now you got LOTS of colorful tiles to work with, so don't just pace around thinking about how to make your maps much more vibrant.
This is a tileset test I made months ago, which showcase NPCs, background objects (for autoscroll purposes), Picnic Penguin lamps, and even SwapSwap Panda grass. BTW the background is a variation of the one from Picnic Penguin's intro, which I've edited into something custom!
More tileset showcases follow. There's some new ones from the final chapter of SCT2 (which I've added a year ago), as well as font tests...
Some font tests. You can place Nayupixel and Upheaval font blocks in the editor. (These are the fonts used in SCT btw)
I've showcased more recent tilesets I've added to the mod by putting them in a little showcase thingy. Here you can see some of the custom bone stuff and even fishbones from Little Fin.
Here's more of the more recent tilesets, which include boulders from Little Fin, big bones, a single T-Rex fossil, and even a custom mushroom tileset that I made myself!
Last thing I want to showcase here is some of the new tilesets I edited and added from Dadish 2. There's Dadish & Super Fowlst 2 tilesets in SCW if you're curious, and these are there to mainly extend the players' creativity beyond their imagination...
WORLDS & STORY MODE - Hmm, how's it going?
Hey, Story Mode's going fine, by the way. Right now, we're in the middle of composing music, fixing up graphics (Poor taxi cab sign! :( ), and adding new maps.
Right now, for me, Story Mode isn't the big focus atm, as I'm doing some other new world maps...
First off, I'd like to start off by saying I'm happy to announce that a remake of SCT2's World 1 is in progress! There will be ten (TEN!?) new stages to battle on, all culminating into a final battle against Commander Mizu, the first boss of Super Cat Tales 2.
Here above is a remake of the interior of 1-1 - Neko House. It retains the usual kittens, but this time it now features a new custom attic which you can climb up to using the ropes, and can warp back into the main room by using the exit to the left of the attic itself.
Next up is 1-2 - Tin Soldiers. It's mostly the same, except for a few oddities in the tiles (as it's attempting to fit with how SCW's tilesets work). However, I added more detail to the empty spaces around it, so it doesn't feel too simple in appearance.
And lastly, as seen below, here's the final world map for SCT2 World 1:
It's mostly similar to its original incarnation in SCT2, however due to the limited number of decorations and ground tiles I could use, some deco have to be changed entirely, such as the removal of Mayor Cat. Otherwise, everything remains the same at most.
I've also confirmed a third world map after Story Mode and SCT2 World 1, this will be named "Littleland" and will feature custom maps set on a lonely island. Stay tuned for more information!
And that's all for now!
Sorry if I haven't gave out updates in a long while. If you want some consistent updates and want to contribute to the mod with new maps and skins, join the Discord server below:
I've recently refurbished this server, while most messages remain, a lot of channels have been moved around and new channels have been added. Also, verification is no longer required to enter this server.
Anyways, cheers, and I hope you continue to follow this mod's page as the mod gets closer to completion.
