RTD Productions: “Waluigi Fan-Game ARC”

You know… I’ve played lots of Nintendo DS games during my childhood, and I faintly remember when the advertisements for Super Mario 64 DS rolled out. I REEEEALLY wanted to play it, but never got to. So I resorted to using Emulators when I was a pre-teen. (Still experimenting to this day.)

I’ve played the Original SM64 DS years ago, and… it’s alright.
Sure, it’s interesting that Yoshi, Luigi and Wario are in this game as playable characters (and there’s nothing wrong with that), but the controls aren’t to my liking. Play it on a 3DS/2DS, and you’ll see that the controls haven’t adjusted properly to the control stick. But if you Mod the game, the controls will feel exactly the way they did in the Original Super Mario 64.

But this is just a little fact from lil’ ol’ me.
This isn’t what we’re all here for, am I right lads, or am I right?

Waluigi in Super Mario 64 DS

This ROM Hack is really interesting.

The most obscure mod that I’ve ever played has finally come to the light. This ROM Hack replaces Mario with Waluigi, and unlike Kaze Emanuar’s SM64 Hack [Which came out a Summer ago], this came out about a year ago. And it’s all authrntic, too. (Makes me question if Kaze stole the idea from the creator of this mod.)

But there’s only ONE minor downside to it. The shading that’s supposed to be on the character’s shoes, overalls, and shirt are absent. (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wario have a bit of shading on their models in the Original Super Mario 64 DS.)

Apart from THAT minor set-back, it’s a really fun ride to play through, just like the SM64 Waluigi Hack made by Kaze Emanuar. [Playing as him by just collecting his hat is good enough for me.] I reccomend this to all the huge SM64DS Theorists out there who like to make those… “Trolling YouTube Videos” that like to give explanations to how to do the impossible to unlock a certain character. (Yeah, you know who I’m talking about.)

This ROM gets a 9/10 for being the most effecient and clever way to properly bring a once rumored character to the Nintendo DS System. (And I hope that one day, I can mod a Nintendo DS or Nintendo DSi so that I can play as many ROM Hacks as I want to.)
