The reason I decided to put three reviews together is because I wanted to write about them all and they all are under the same category each with different designs and similar game play.
Terraria
I can tell you that if you’ve never played this game you would hate it. You’d need to put the effort into it to get to know it, and it’s much easier to do with friends. The reason people prefer this game and sometimes over games like Minecraft is not because it’s shiny. The game itself is really fun to get into, it’s challenging and even can induce rage at some moments. The first time you play you want to learn how to defeat new things, and you learn all sorts of things unless you look onto the wiki. As fun as other survival games are they are just that: plain survival. This game has the feel of an RPG with amazingly designed graphical pixels that make the game world beautiful and unique. I wouldn’t want Terraria in 3D, but I would want to fight the Eye of Cthulhu in real life. The games items are amazingly diverse and have a sort of class like system similar to that of a rock paper scissors effect. Going from melee or ranged or mage, you could change your game play experience and even play the game over from a different “class”. Although it’s hard to achieve certain things, the pay off is normally amazing. Some weapons we just love and keep no matter how weak they are. The game is definitely worth the price it’s at.

Minecraft
While people love to diss on popular games like Half-life and Skyrim, they only do it because they think games are over-rated and shouldn’t get the hype they do. Although that might be a little true for most games, it doesn’t mean the game is bad in any way. Minecraft definitely lives up to its potential and has a lot of creative ideas. Although no one can say for sure if they will continue to grow after the recent sell of the games rights to Microsoft. They do however, offer an infinite world full of adventure. The way I see it, other games have more options. The game has a weak weapon system with one type of ranged weapon and four types of main melee weapons. While mods make the game more fun, the review I’m writing isn’t about mods. I know that the animal system is good, but it still does end eventually in terms of enjoyment, as does the rest of the game. It’s not a game I would wrest from someone, but it is definitely something I like. I think that it’s creative design leads to the community making wonderful things that with the limitations of Terraria, they couldn’t have done. Making a working computer is one thing, making automatic sand collectors is another. While I don’t like being picky on both games I would choose Terraria over Minecraft.

Unturned
Made by a kid who played Roblox, the game wasn’t liked upon at first. It gives the same feel as Dayz but in a more blocky like design. I personally think too many indie games are using that style and are making their games too much like the rest. I can’t say I hate the game, when I first went into it I wanted to learn about it. I never learned a lot, but later I figured out there was a crafting and building mechanic. I don’t see too much potential for updates but I think there is still stuff in the game that was left out. The zombies being so basic and boring make the game itself gloomy, not in a good way. I definitely can say the game is worth a try and is a little fun with friends (as long as PVP is off), but it isn’t something I would recommend to dedicate yourself to. The crafting system is dull, and the game lacks the openness and creativity it should have.
