๐ป What is the Halloween Monster Hunt? ๐ป
The Halloween Monster Hunt is a recurring event on Game Jolt where the community bands together to defeat the invading monsters!
๐ฎ How to Play? ๐ฎ
Monsters spawn on random pages across the site. You can engage in a clicker combat by clicking on them. The monsters will try to evade any further clicks, and if they manage to do so for long enough - they "escape".
You better be quick!
๐ Achievements and Trophies ๐
You can unlock trophies by catching monsters.
Each type of monsters will grant you an achievement when you catch it 10 times, 25 times and 50 times.
You can check your profile to see how many monsters you caught so far. You can also check out your friend's profiles! For example, check out this mad lad @heavenly-roads ![]()
. You too can be just as cool!
๐ Community Goal ๐
It is our duty as a community to defeat all the monsters! There are about 2,000 monsters of each type. If the community goal is reached, everyone who participated in the hunt will get an exclusive trophy for their efforts!
Also, the top 10 hunters will get an exclusive trophy!
You can check out the current progress right here.
๐ค Helping your Fellow Hunters ๐
The monsters show for everyone, on the same page, at the same time, and will usually stay on a page for about 2 to 3 minutes. This means that if you're fast enough, you can link a page where you encountered a monster to your fellow hunters so they can catch them too!
Some monsters are pretty rare, so helping each other is the fastest way to unlock all the trophies and achievements!
To help you out, we've actually created the Halloween 2019 Community. We have an encounters channel specifically for that, as well as 5 channels that server as monster-hunting grounds.
๐งโโ๏ธ Monster Index ๐
Our hunters compiled a bunch of info on each of the 5 monster types. Each monster is unique and has different rarities, movement patterns and hit points. The more monsters you catch the stronger the monsters will be, increasing the difficulty.
Jack-O-Lantern

One of the most common monsters, the Jack-O-Lantern will show about 30% of the time. Fairly nimble, this monster zooms around the page randomly. The more of it you catch, the faster it'll change directions and move. It's not very durable, tho. You can defeat most jack-o-lanterns with a few well-aimed clicks.
Candy Man

Pretty common, the Candy Man will show about 23% of the time. Despite its size, it is very quick and will actively try to move away from the mouse when it comes near. Luckily, it's big and has a slow reaction time. The more Candy Men you defeat, the faster their reaction time becomes.
Zombie

Another commoner, the Zombie will show about 23% of the time. It's slow and wanders aimlessly as dead men do. It doesn't feel any pain tho, so it takes quite a few hits to take him down. Occasionally he'll burrow below the page and pop somewhere else. The more Zombies you defeat, the more durable they become, and they also burrow more frequently.
Witch

A rare drop, the Witch spawns at about 15% of the time. It's fast and devious. Usually hangs around the edges of the page. When clicked, she'll often escape through one side and appear on the other. The more Witches you defeat, the more they will evade through the side of the page.
Vampire

The rarest monster, allegedly the mastermind behind the invasion, the Vampire spawns at about 9% of the time. It zooms around the page like these pesky Minecraft bats you can never hit, and to top it off he's very durable. The more Vampires you defeat the faster and more durable they are.
๐ฏ Where do Monsters Spawn, EXACTLY? ๐ฏ
A keen hunter are you?
Monsters spawn on random pages. Depending on the page type (think community channel vs the home page) monsters will spawn more frequently, and change at different intervals.
Home page / Activity feed - Every 3 minutes, 50% of the time.
Game pages - Every 5 minutes, 20% of the time.
Different games have different monsters
Browse games pages - Every 2 minutes, 15% of the time.
Different page numbers, channels, and filters have different monsters.
Community pages - Every 5 minutes, 20% of the time.
Different channels have different monsters
For example, half the times you visit the home page you'll see a monster. If there isn't any, you can check again in 3 minutes. On a game page, however, there's only a 1 in 5 chance for a monster to show, but you can just go and search the next page!
Good luck, hunter!
