Tackling kiting

Too many games fall easy prey to players willing to kite. I am slowly realising that this tactic is not easy to discourage!

There are ways, though. Nuclear Throne, for example, has the slain enemy drop plutonium canisters, which in turn you need to pick up to get experience. The canisters have a somewhat limited life time, so it encourages players to jump into the fray to get them.

“Action zones” would maybe be handy in this regard, too. When you enter a certain zone, the entrance and exit can lock up untill you dispatch all your foes. It does sound a bit artifical, though…

For now, my game (Army of One) has the enemies not chase you much - except, ofcourse, for the dumb horde of green pistol carriers… They are cannon fodder, anyway :D
