Tails technically confirms that The Return to Sonic's is canon in the Remasters of the series by referencing Wario.

Reference: FNaS 2 Reopened, Night 4 Cutscene


More evidence to support this is Tails saying Wario is going to be upset that he's not getting his money.

He was also in The Return to Sonic's as a Phone guy or He was keeping an eye on the clones to make sure they don't escape and swapping locations. Another theory is Wario was at SHPP after knuckles got fired then in 2016 they got moved to SHPP Archives.
