Group E: Algeria, a team with some big names like Mahrez, and surprisingly, Zidane's son is playing for them. They're aiming for the 2026 World Cup. Algeria is a good team. Burkina Faso, on the other hand, is one of the mid-table teams and a disappointment. I expected more from them in the match against Algeria. Sudan pulled off a surprise victory against a dreadful Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea missed too many clear chances. A disappointing result in this edition for a team I expected more from.
Group D: Ivory Coast is undoubtedly the strongest team in this group, the reigning champion and a strong contender to win the Africa Cup of Nations. They've performed well. Cameroon, on the other hand, is a team whose failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup I now understand. They have good players, but lack cohesion. Mozambique could be a surprise contender if they manage to draw with Cameroon. And Gabon, another disappointment. Aubameyang is leaving the most disappointing campaign of his career as a national team coach. They reached the playoff rounds, were thrashed by Nigeria, and now Mozambique has beaten Gabon, eliminating them from the Africa Cup of Nations.
