Hi! Today i'll be talking about my experience with a switch 2 after almost 5 months of owning it, everything that i will say are my actual thoughts, im not going to repeat what other people have said just because thats a popular opinion, im being 100% honest here (please don't kill me).
Console
LOVE IT. When the console was announced, i disliked some stuff about it, such as the size, design, colors. But after owning it for a month (i started writing when it was a month), i can say that i love this console.
First of all, it feels like a "better switch", which is just what the switch 1 had to do for an update, the menus are faster, he stand is actually good (i didn't use the original because it would just fall every time), a very nice screen, still have to try a game where i can notice the 120fps, but im happy with it, the colors look great, he speakers are much better than what i was expecting, very high quality. It makes the switch 1 feel like a toy.
The switch 2 is a higher quality switch, the console feels better, but should you buy it now? If you never had the original switch and are able to pay the price, sure, the original switch still has a lot of great games, even me as an owner of a switch 1 for 6 years i could live for another 6 years just with the current games the console has, but if you already have a switch 1, i would tell you to wait just a bit longer, since there are only a few switch 2 games available at the moment.
Dock
A dockgrade... downgrade. It has a fan which is nice, but it doesn't fix anything from the original console, the back is only removable what?? that just makes it annoying to open, if you wanted to remove it from the original switch you had the option, but now you have TO remove it, not a fan of this, if it used magnets it would make sense to follow the gimmick. Something else i would have liked is the USB C port outside to make it easier to remove the charger, its something that is still annoying and wish they would change it.
Joy-Cons
I just need to say that, the joycons are soo good now that i can't believe i used the original ones for years. Not only are they bigger, with smooth sticks (like the ones on a PS5 controller), but playing with them sideways is very comfortable, i have been playing mario kart world mostly with a single joycon 2 and it feels perfect, i brought one of my original joycons to play mario kart and my fingers started to hurt, which is insane to think about as that was a way to play mario kart 8, the new ones are such a big upgrade that i can't go back to the old ones.
My only complain is that the SL and SR buttons feel better than the L,R,ZL,ZR buttons.
Prices
Let's get this out of the way, i think $450 for the console is... perfectly fine, its only $150 more than the original switch, and the quality and performance is so much better that i can't complain about the price, even as someone who barely earns money i don't regret buying the console.
But now, what about the games? Mario Kart World launched for $80, which is obviously a big jump considering almost every single switch 1 game was $60, as someone from mexico im already used to the prices being higher, i wish i could just go to the store and pick up some switch games im not able to get here.
Getting games now will be a bit hard since most switch 2 releases here are around $80, i think i'll just wait for sales, yes those happen, most of the first party switch games i buy are around $50. I bought Mario Kart World for around $60 physically.
okay now, its time to talk about some games i have been playing!
Nintendo Switch Games
The games are still running at 720p max as that was what the switch 1 used, but the upscaling used here doesn't look the best, i wish there was an option for different upscaling options, but it isn't that bad, i have been playing puyo puyo tetris and it looks good, its not as bad as a 3DS playing DS games.
What i was interested in was the performance of old games, some games could drop fps or were barely playable (like fortnite). Tried hyrule warriors age of calamity and oh my god it actually runs at 30fps, i remember playing the final level on splitscreen and the fps would go below 10 all the time, it was still playable but switch 2 makes it so much better, it just needs an update to increase the performance like what pokemon got, speaking of which i still haven't played pokemon violet, its been on my collection for more than a year now but i will start it soon now that i can play the better version (update: this was a lie i bought za and still havent played that either).
Fortnite
I did 3 separate reviews, one close to when i got the console, one months later, and a final one right now, before posting, these are my current thoughts on the port:
The console makes the game 60FPS, but other than that, it doesn't do a lot, you are basically playing the switch 1 port with higher graphics, which would be perfectly fine for other games, but this is Fortnite. If you have played the Switch 1 version you know how horrible that is, being honest, probably top 1 worst performance in a game i have played on the switch, and i have played security breach. Mouse mode in fornite feels like an after-thought, you have to activate it, which is very dissapointing.
I can't believe how bad it feels, the menus are as slow as ever, trying to navigate the menus will freeze the game or have extremely long input lag, not to mention that the game on portable mode looks as bad as fortnite on switch 1, the resolution is not good, looks too soft and the effects used to try to make the game look better just make it look like a mess.
TLDR: Disapointing, at least the game runs at 60FPS now, but this is still just as buggy as the switch port.
Nintendo Gamecube - Nintendo Classics
I haven't played much yet, but i played some mario strikers and soul calibur and it was a lot of fun, the games look great, not much to say, happy with the result, love the gamecube intro easter egg, just started playing chibi-robo.
Mina the Hollower (demo)

Tried this one as i wanted to try the 120FPS mode, i liked the gameplay, it felt good to play, completed the demo, but i just need to know why the pixels are not aligned to the grid, it made the game look so much worse, the art style looks great, but the mixels make it look unpolished, are the pixels like this for the 120FPS mode?? thats my only complaint with the demo, may try the full game later.
Zelda Switch 2 Editions

I love Tears of the Kingdom, im 60 hours into the game and have been playing for more than a year, it runs at a completely stable 60FPS, after playing that long on switch 1 it feels weird, in a good way, haven't seen a single frame drop, i just think it looks a bit "soft" in portable mode, but it looks great, even the menus no longer "stop" everything for a frame, everything is better, i need to play more but im very happy with the update, but i have to admit that the zelda notes app should have been added into the game, using a separate device feels wrong.
Mario Kart World

It may be the best one. I had mario kart 8 deluxe, and i thought it was good, but rarely played it, only when i was playing with someone else, but even then, didn't play much.
Nowww, Mario Kart World. Already 35 hours into the game. The movement is so much better, just being able to jump makes this even more fun that 8, the movement in this game feels so good, playing 8 again feels like if i was eating cereal with no cereal and no milk.
But what makes this game so good is not only that, but also the world, without the open world this game wouldn' t be this good: something that makes me not like 8 as much as world is that i started to get bored of playing the same tracks over and over, world has less tracks, but the open world makes the races way longer and more interesting, i no longer have to do 3 laps.
I still got a few problems with the game, such as having cups for knockout instead of just going to random places, but i still think this is far better than mario kart 8. Much better than Mario Kart 8. No regrets getting this game.
TLDR: It's great, much better than 8.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (demo)

...please don't kill me but i didn't like this one. Played the demo to the end, and honestly the game didn't feel great, the combat is really slow, repetitive and not very interesting, I quit after 30 minutes and didn't finish the demo until after 1-2 weeks later. Sorry, I was really interested in this one but I'll pass for now.
I don't want my thoughts on this one to be this negative so I'll say something good, it looks great! The only problem with the game was the hair, everything else looked very good, even if it was running at 30FPS I didn't have any problems, if this is how future switch 2 ports will look like i will be getting a lot of third pary games!
I'll probably see some gameplays later as i want to know if it gets better once it really starts, i was planning to get this one on release but the 90GB size is insane.
TLDR: Removed from the wishlist for now
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (demo)

Oh my god.
First of all, I HATE RPGs, well, not really, its just that I can't get into them, believe me, games like pokemon have been on my collection for YEARS.
...BUT THIS?, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, this one is great. I saw that this was a switch 2 game so i downloaded the demo months ago, it wasn't until early december that i decided to try it (i wasn't really interested, only downloaded because it has a switch 2 version), and oh my god.
The story takes its time, you get a whole hour of intro / cutscenes / talking, but it was interesting to keep me playing, now the funny part is that i was like "please don't be an RPG" the whole time, and then got hit with the turn-based gameplay, but i gave it a try...
This game... is GREAT! Its a mix of two gameplay styles, which sounds like a horrible idea, but playing it, its perfect, you can switch to the turn-based gameplay any time, and use it to get an advantage, its so good that i found myself getting into battles just by how much fun i was having, which is INSANE to think about, i never do this.
At the time of writing this, i still haven't completed the demo, but it has enough content to know how the game is, and i have seen people saying that it gets even better later.
Basically, i found an RPG i like, from a series i was never interested in the first place, which to me is insane to think about, i usually avoid RPGs, but this one feels worth playing, and i will be playing. Please give this game a chance, try the demo!
Very excited to keep playing this one, i'll get the full game asap (would have bought it already if i had enough money).
TLDR: I don't play RPGs but this one is great, give the demo a try!!!
Well, these are my thoughts on the console and some games! Getting this console was one of my main goals this year, even if i spent most of my money on it, i feel like it was worth it.
I already own Pokemon Legends ZA but i need to play it before i can talk about it, so skipped it for now!
I'm very excited to know what else will be coming to the console, here's some games im interested in getting soon:
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Resident Evil 7-9
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter
I think that's all for this blog post!, hope you found it interesting! I'll probably do a second "review" of the console later to see if i'll keep the same thoughts after a year of having it.
