Yesterday was a bad day.
My dog ate my keyboard (well, chewed the USB plug off the end), which I replaced, turned on my PC to the sound everyone dreads. A horrible mechanical clunking sound coming from the HDD.
I had to work from a backup from about six weeks ago which means I’ve lost the new AI.
I’ve re-written most of it today so all is not lost, I just have the sensors to re-create and then It’s back to where I was before my PC took a big shit on me.
I’ve squeezed the new car model into the game and got it racing around the track. It’s not finished yet but I’m slowly getting there.
Before he AI update, with the old damage system 9 cars would cause my PC to slow down with huge frame rate drops making the game unplayable.
Here’s a video of me testing 40 cars in one race, plus my screen capture software running with no frame rate drops.
Some of the cars are a little ‘floaty’ but I’m not finished tweaking them yet.
I haven’t tested it yet but I’m pretty sure I could cram 60 cars into one race for ultimate mayhem.
That’s all for today but I’d love to see what you think in the comments section.
Paul.
