About a year ago, I started making a FNAF fan game in Godot. It looked like what you see in the video above. An office, 10 cameras, lots of Simpsons placeholders, and literally absolutely nothing else. This was the first ever build of Friedrich's!
Back then, I was pretty new to Godot, and I needed a good project to get myself used to the engine. In the past, I always wanted to try doing a reimagining of FNAF1 (just like every other fangame creator), but with less of a focus on horror, and more of a focus on simple, fast mechanics, goofy character designs, and fun animations. I thought "Hey, a simple FNAF fangame would be a great starter project!"
Fast forward to this morning, and I see my profile just hit 1,000 followers! It's a huge milestone, and something I did not imagine could be possible while I was searching "simpsons supply closet" on Google Images.
The development of Friedrich's has been a big part of my life this last year, and it's been an absolute blast watching this community grow and take on a life of its own. The Friedrich's community is one of the most loyal, creative, and supportive communities I've been a part of. Not just supportive of me, but of each other, too! Seeing this goofy German bear game inspire you guys to chat together and make cool stuff has been very motivating to see.
It's a stupid corny thing that everyone always says, but this game would not exist the way it does without you guys. If the DEMO didn't see the success it did, it's entirely possible I would've run out of steam and not finished the game. Even if I did finish it, it wouldn't be anywhere near the state it's in currently. Stuff like the minigames, the trophies, all of the easter eggs and extras, they wouldn't even cross my mind. I added those things because I knew seeing everyone's reactions would be worth the effort. If you've done anything to support me or this game, no matter how small, you played a part in the game being the way that it is today. So thank you!! I'm very excited for you guys to see the full, finished product someday.
Alright, enough sappy stuff. I don't really have anything to announce or show off in terms of celebration, so I hope my little heartfelt speech and early build footage was enough for you guys.
Also, since I'm sure this question may come up, I've submitted my Game Jolt Creator application this morning! I should hopefully hear back soon. I wouldn't get my hopes up since I'm not sure how exclusive Game Jolt is with this stuff, but if there is good news you will definitely hear about it!
Thanks again guys, until next time!
