Aundre Matthews, an 18-year-old student, is charged with the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Andrew Meismer inside a science classroom at Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, on December 17, 2025. 

Prosecutors allege the fatal altercation stemmed from a dispute over an unpaid $21 vape pen. The allegations against Matthews include the following details:

• The Confrontation: The dispute reportedly began when Matthews confronted Meismer about a missing vape pen he claimed Meismer had not paid for. The two students were excused to use the restroom, where Matthews allegedly searched Meismer's pockets and found scissors. 

• The Incident: Court records state Matthews kept the scissors, and the conflict escalated when they returned to their classroom. Matthews allegedly placed Meismer in a chokehold and stabbed him in the neck and head. 

• Disturbing Behavior: Investigators and witnesses testified at a bond hearing that after the stabbing, Matthews smiled, licked his fingers, and admitted to the fatal attack. 

• Legal Status: A judge set Matthews' initial bond at $3 million, which was later denied following a court hearing under a Texas constitutional provision allowing judges to deny bond for certain violent crimes
